DRUNK DRIVER ABANDONED CAR & FLED TO EVADE POLICE, CAUGHT & JAILED 3 WEEKS

0

Manikam Varatharaj, a 45-year-old Singaporean, found himself entangled in legal trouble after trying to avoid a police roadblock while under the influence.

He was sentenced to 3 weeks imprisonment on 28 July and fined $6,800, as well as being banned from driving for 42 months.

What happened

On a September night in 2019, at approximately 2:30 AM, Manikam Varatharaj was driving through Woodlands when he noticed a police roadblock up ahead. Fearful of being caught for drink driving, he decided to take an evasive course of action.

In a desperate attempt to elude the police, Varatharaj turned into a small road leading to the Seagate and 3M Singapore buildings, before he made a u-turn at the end of the road and parked his car at the exit of the Seagate building.

At this point, Varatharaj’s intentions became apparent to a vigilant security guard stationed at the 3M Singapore guardhouse. Curious about his actions, the guard approached Varatharaj, who seemed nervous and smelled of alcohol.

Varatharaj explained that he needed to urgently attend to something and requested the guard to watch over his car.

Despite the guard’s warning that he would inform the police if the car wasn’t moved, Varatharaj decided to abandon his vehicle and flee on foot. This left the security guard baffled and the exit lane obstructed, causing inconvenience to other road users.

Realizing the urgency of the situation, the guard immediately reported the incident to the police roadblock nearby. Upon receiving the information, the police promptly dispatched officers to the scene to investigate.

As events unfolded, two foreign workers who happened to arrive in a van were found to be associated with Varatharaj. They revealed that he had instructed them to be there at that specific time. The police took over a call from Varatharaj when he contacted one of the workers, further solidifying the case against him.

Upon apprehending Varatharaj, the police charged him with drink driving and leaving his car in a manner that inconvenienced other road users. Subsequently, he was put on trial to answer for his actions.

The Trial and its Outcome

At trial, Varatharaj attempted to defend himself by claiming that he had not seen the police roadblock. He further asserted that his hands and legs had been trembling, leading him to stop the car and leave it behind. However, the prosecution presented evidence to counter his claims.

Despite Varatharaj’s defense, the court found him guilty of both charges. Given his previous drink driving conviction and previous fines for other traffic offenses, the court handed down a sentence that included a three-week jail term, a fine of S$6,800, and a driving ban of 42 months.

COUPLE DISTURBS LION DANCE COMPETITION BY KICKING LION’S HEAD & SHOUTING @ WEST COAST CC

0

An incident at the West Coast Community Centre has stirred up controversy and worry as a man and a woman disrupted a lion dance performance through their disruptive actions, according to The Straits Times.

This disruption occurred during the Ngee Ann City National Lion Dance Championship, which was organized by the Singapore Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Federation (SWDLDF), where their son was participating as a performer with the Times Cultural Arts, according to Shin MIn Daily News.

During the performance, as the lion dance team was setting up their props, the couple abruptly rushed in, causing a scene that disrupted the entire performance.

Videos captured the couple shouting the Mandarin phrase “mei da mei xiao,” which translates to “showing no respect,” and allegedly kicking one of the lion’s heads placed on the ground.

Despite attempts from judges and fellow performers to intervene, the couple persisted in their disruptive behavior.

As a result of the incident, the authorities were alerted, leading to the arrest of the 58-year-old man and 51-year-old woman on charges of causing public nuisance.

Authorities take such actions seriously as they disrupt public order and jeopardize the safety of others. Police investigations into the incident are also underway.

In the aftermath of the disruption, Mr. Joseph Low, the secretary-general of SWDLDF, highlighted a miscommunication between the parents and their 25-year-old son, who was part of the lion dance competition.

The parents had attempted to prevent their son from participating due to misunderstandings.

Despite the disturbance, the son’s lion dance team demonstrated resilience and determination. While initially contemplating withdrawal from the competition, the organizers extended the opportunity for them to compete at a later time.

The team’s perseverance paid off as they secured a Gold in the competition, advancing to the semi-finals scheduled at Ngee Ann City from Sept 4 to 9.

Mr. Joseph Low emphasized the vital role of lion dance, like any sport, in building character. It fosters values such as discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and tenacity.

As a community, it is essential to support and encourage young performers in their pursuit of traditional arts and cultural practices, preserving our heritage while shaping the character of future generations.

ELDERLY WOMAN FOUND DEAD @ HENDERSON RD HDB, FLAT COVERED IN MAGGOTS

0

In a quiet corner of Singapore, at Block 93 Henderson Road, a tragic incident has caught the attention of authorities and neighbors alike.

The police are currently conducting an investigation into an unnatural death that occurred in the ninth-floor unit of the block. The lifeless body of a 67-year-old woman was discovered, and her husband, aged 70, was found unconscious in the same flat, according to The Straits Times.

On Saturday morning, a neighbor, known as Mr. Xu, made a shocking discovery. He had been noticing an unusual and unpleasant smell emanating from the couple’s flat for at least a week before the incident.

Unable to ignore the overpowering odor any longer, Mr. Xu, who lives in the opposite unit, decided to take action. He immediately called the police to report the situation.

Concerned about the wellbeing of his neighbors, Mr. Xu went the extra mile and knocked on the woman’s door. To his horror, the door opened with a gentle push, and he was confronted with an alarming sight. The floor of the flat was covered with maggots, indicating a situation of severe neglect and decay.

The deceased woman, 67 years old, was found lying motionless in the ninth-floor unit. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedic.

Her husband, aged 70, was discovered unconscious and immediately taken to Singapore General Hospital for urgent medical attention. The community is anxiously awaiting updates on his condition.

In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Mr. Xu shared his observations and interactions with the elderly couple. He mentioned that the couple usually kept their front door open, fostering a friendly and approachable atmosphere.

However, in the last few days leading up to the incident, the door had been tightly shut, raising concerns among the neighbors.

Other neighbors, speaking to Shin Min, revealed that the couple relied on wheelchairs to get around. It was customary for them to leave their flat every morning to have their meals.

However, in the days before the incident, the neighbors had not seen the couple outside, further heightening the sense of worry in the community.

The police were alerted to the incident at approximately 10:17 am on that fateful Saturday. Shortly after, SCDF received a call for assistance, arriving on the scene about 20 minutes later.

The police are currently carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and her husband’s unconscious state.

BANGLADESHI WORKER PAYS MIDDLE MAN S$8,000 TO GET A JOB IN SG, DAILY SALARY $18

0

Before coming to Singapore, Sharif was the owner of a bookstore and managed several employees. However, the bookstore suddenly closed down, and he was desperate and came to Singapore alone to find another way to make a living.

After paying an agency fee of S$8,000, Sharif was introduced to work on a construction site , and had a wife in Bangladesh who was three months pregnant at the time.

This looks like a difficult road from which there is no turning back.

After coming to Singapore, Sharif found it difficult for him to adapt to life in Singapore. Not only do I have to squeeze into a dormitory with more than 20 construction workers, but I also have to work 28 days a month, 12 hours a day, from 7 am to 7 pm. Sometimes rushing to a project, there will be no day off for several months.

However, for such a heavy work, the daily salary is only 18 Singapore dollars, and most of the money has to be remitted back to Bangladesh for his wife and son…

While he was working hard day and night, people in his hometown had a deep misunderstanding of him. They thought that Sharif could make a lot of money in Singapore and live a luxurious life.

Sharif said aggrievedly: Even after spending 11 years here, I never enjoyed life, I was always struggling.

TRANSCAB DRIVER ALLEGEDLY NEVER FOLLOWS METER AND CHARGE EXTRA

Hi i want to warn everyone about this transcab driver.

Transcab renault latitude

SHD257K

I ordered a gotaxi last night and app shows fare to be between $11.60 to $18.80, but halfway through the journey driver suddenly tell me i need to pay him $18.80 and say its shown on app. His meter was on and i questioned him about it. He then went on to act blur and keep insisting its $18.80 so i told him ok ill pay that amount but ill need a receipt from him to lodge a feedback with gojek.

He then changed his words and told me theres a $1.40 additional “fee” if he goes by the meter which i dont know what hes talking about.

Before i drop off he suddenly said he will charge according to meter cause i cant just say ill go complain him. But if hes not up to something gojek or transcab would just tell me in the face isnt it? Den he said its better he do me wrong than i do him wrong. Like what wrong am i doing him?

Furthermore he was driving recklessly the whole trip and sudden brake like every minute. I wasnt even making noise about that.

Video shows how bumpy the ride was and the moment he told me fare was $18.80.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Well gojek can check from where he pick you up and where he drop you so the distance will say it all with the time and date. So you should just file a complaint to gojek and say the driver in the middle of the trip say the charges is $18.80 and seem to ask for my consent which you say why does he need to do this? the driver further say if follow meter has an additional $1.40. So ask gojek to clarify why the driver say all these and ask gojek to confirm what is the actual fee for this ride? Just tell him you don’t understand and tell him also his replies will be on social media and we will know who is right and who is wrong.
  • GrabTaxi also same. They will just charge you the highest Amt in the range even when meter says otherwise. Too tired to even bother to lodge as both times it happened was late night.
  • He was trying to cheat your money.

WOMAN HAS AFFAIR WITH PERSONAL TRAINER FRIEND OF HUSBAND DURING THEIR SESSIONS

0

A story of an affair committed by a married woman with her personal trainer in her gym was shared online.

The lady had wanted to lose some weight after giving birth to her third child and her husband recommended a personal trainer friend of his to help her attain her goal of losing weight.

After a few sessions, the lady and her personal trainer got into an affair.

Here is the story

“So I started going to the gym since last May, to lose some extra weight that I had gained after having my third child. My husband, who goes to this same gym once in a while when he is home, recommended his personal trainer friend to me.

I started to train under him. He used to join me for a walk in the morning and helped me with weight training in the evening at the gym. During the process we got closer and started to spend more time with each other, after morning walks and after gym, usually at my place. He complimented me often for my efforts and my looks and was very positive with me from day one. So basically he was into me (which he told me later on) and I was enjoying his company as my husband travels a lot for his work.

When we were at home, he took the full advantage of privacy and touched my body parts to make me understand things. Like touching my chest to tell my how the width of my grip would affect different sides or touching my backside, hamstrings and thighs to tell me which exercise would target which part and such and he would have me touch his body so that I could “understand” better. At first it was educational then it was straight on flirting and I was more that receptive by now. I really was fond of this guy.

And during one such session I decided to take care of his ‘brother’ at attention. I don’t know why. I just felt so and got down on my knees. He left that day after filling up my mouth. The next morning, we skipped walking and had ‘exercise’ in bed instead. It was the beginning of us skipping one cardio for doing another. Or we had ‘exercise’ post gym or sometimes during other time of the day. I was improving my physique and so was my relationship with my trainer.

Although I have reached where I wanted to by October itself I am still working out with him and physically active with him. And before you all may ask me, yes, I paid him for his services. Not for the physical services, but purely for the effort that he put in for me (no pun intended).”

GIRL WORKING AT CLOTHES SHOP, BOSS KEEPS SHOUTING & SPYING ON WORKERS VIA CCTV

0

A netizen shared how his girlfriend started working at a clothes shop and her boss keeps shouting at her and watching them on the CCTV.

Here is the story:

“This is just a warning to people finding a temp job.

My gf just started working at a popular japanese clothes chain in the west as a temp job. It’s located in a shopping mall.

She and her other colleagues were always being shouted at and scolded by the store manager there. Not only her, other workers too. They only do this in the staff room of course.

It’s fine if they’re getting scolded because of their own mistakes. But sometimes the store management gets personal and mention stuff like “your mother/father never teach you is it?” Scolding would be in front of other employees, so there are witnesses.

The management also doesn’t trust the employees at all, that they need to check cctv to monitor employees. For example, you were supposed to do X from 1-4pm. But store manager was away during that time or perhaps busy. She/he will claim that she/he did not see you do your work and pick a fight with you. She/he will then check the CCTV to ensure you indeed did what was supposed to be done. If the work was already done, why still need to check CCTV???

I would say; to those who are still working there, try to stand up to these people. Better still, get evidence and make the toxic workplace visible to the world. Bosses should learn how to treat their employees right, and such bosses should not exist.”

GUY JOKES WITH NURSE ABOUT HIS SESAME STREET FANTASY, NURSE STUPIDLY BELIEVES

0

A story was seen online which a guy shared about his experience at an unknown hospital which he had been going to see the doctor for an infection at his private area for the longest time in his life.

He shared that in one of his visits to the hospital, he had to release his ‘soldiers’ for the doctor to do tests on and the nurse guided him into a children’s room in the hospital to collect his ‘solders’ as there were no more available rooms.

The nurse then apologised for the lack of rooms and ‘materials’ to aid him in his collection of his ‘soldiers’ to which he joked that the sesame street characters, Ernie and Bert was enough ‘aid’ for him.

The nurse took his joke seriously and then went to share it with the other nurses who laughed continuously at the man while he was inside the room.

Here is the story

“Ok, here we go. I had to release into a cup to count my soldiers because I had a longtime infection in my private area.

Nurse said: “Sorry, you have to use the children’s room, every other room is occupied.”

So as I enter the room I see Sesame Street books, stuffed animals, colourful walls and a clock on the wall having animals as numbers.

The nurse tells me that there are no adult magazines available and I tried to be funny and said “Doesn’t matter, Ernie and Bert are enough for me to get off.”

She did not get the joke. Then she asked me if I know how to ‘do it’ and gave me a quick rundown on how to ‘do it’, all the while looking disgusted and angry.

Ok, so there I was, in a childrens room in a urology clinic trying to do it into a cup while stuffed animals were looking at me with a nurse right in front of the door.

I heard her telling the other nurses my fantasy about Sesame Street, they all laughed.

I had to start over.

When I got to the point where I thought that I could fill the cup, the clock on the wall started to “moo” and make super loud cow noises because it was 12 o’clock.

I must have sighed very loudly because the whole floor went nuts and started laughing even harder.

I had to start over again.

When I finally finished and left the room the nurses were still laughing.”

GIRL LOST $4,000 AFTER CATFISHED BY “TAIWANESE GUY INVESTMENT”

0

Greed always appears to be one of the main reasons why people lose money on the internet, the worse part is it is often combined with photos of either handsome guys or pretty girls.

A netizen posted online of how she lost $4,000 after she was catfished by a “man” on the internet after getting catfished.

Here is the story:

Connected with ‘Hayden’ (Taiwanese who has worked in HK before and is working in SG now) on the Hinge app in early Dec. We moved to Telegram on the same day and he deleted his profile the next day (RF). We talked on Telegram for 2 weeks, in English and Chinese, before he introduced me to the fake/spoofed crypto trading website. I brought up the topic of meeting physically and/or video call but he would declined by saying that he wants to take it slow/changed the topic(RF).

I caught him using fake photos(catfish!) and info since his words often didn’t match his Hinge profile (RF). He admitted it and told me he has trust issues with people because of his broken family and experiences and I was dumb to accept it for that hit my sore spot.

We temporarily ended the convo in Week 3, but he still Telegram me a few days later to ‘invest’ again. I trusted his “investment advice” because of his financially savvy image portrayed during our investment discussion.

Some other Red Flags(RF) about the platform:
1) Weird weblinks (ending with .xyz) that was changed every few days. One of them even triggered Chrome to show that it is a phishing website.
2) The mobile app by “Oriental Wealth”, a fake company with fake logo. User interface quite suspicious with broken English and invalid webpages(e.g. user agreement page).
3) Informed by “Customer Service” (CS) on Whatsapp(HK#) to transfer money to some personal bank accounts (most likely job scam victims), which changed whenever I deposited into the “trading account”.

4) Platform has options to ‘invest’ in 60s(min.$100HKD), 120s($1000HKD) and 12hrs settings. Longer period need more capital($) and can generate more ‘profit’(Online betting!!!)

5) He will ‘analyse’ the BTC chart and calculate the amount($) for me to key in into the website/app (buy long/short) for each ‘trade’, based on his special algorithm.
I started with $500SGD and $2000SGD with the 60s setting for the first 2 tries and got back the capital with the ‘profits’ in my bank account by the next day.
I pumped in $4kSGD next and ‘traded’ a few rounds and stopped when he said the “market was volatile”. Those few rounds didn’t “meet the minimum transaction volume” and they didn’t approve my withdrawal request.

I told him about it, and he persuaded met to try the 120s option to get more profit. Since he will “cover” the additional $6kSGD by informing the CS that he topped up the “trading ID”, I relented. This time, the profits ballooned to around $30kSGD.

I checked with CS a few days later when the money wasn’t in and they directed me to ‘service department”, whom informed me that my account was frozen due to the large foreign transaction and need to pay 15% of the withdrawal amount in 10 days or forfeit that $(profit+capital)(RF). I checked online (scamalert website etc) and finally accepted that I’ve been scammed.

So, please don’t be greedy and do your research first!!!

GUY TRIED TO TOUCH GF ON FLIGHT, END UP TOUCHING HER MOTHER

0

A story was shared online by a guy who had an embarrassing incident which happened to him while on the airplane before the pandemic.

He was on the way to a holiday with his girlfriend and her parents but could not be seated together as the flight was full.

His girlfriend and her mother subsequently sat together behind him while her dad sat beside him.

Midway through the flight, he decided to disturb his girlfriend by stretching his hands out to the back and tried to reach for her legs.

While he thought he had touched his girlfriend, it turns out that he was touching his mother.

Here is the story

“Was on an airplane years ago with my girlfriend and her parents. My girlfriend couldn’t get a seat next to me and sat directly behind me.

During the flight I thought I would surprise her and reached mine hand back onto her knee. Slowly I kept extending it up her thigh until I heard giggling.

Looked behind through the seats and saw that my hand was on the leg of her mother next to her.

She saw my face and said, “I just wanted to see how far you’d go.”

Of course my girlfriend was in on it and started laughing along with the rest of the row.

Was so embarrassed”
