FRIEND TRIES TO ‘FLIP PRATA’ AFTER I WON A BET, DOESN’T WANT TO HONOUR IT

0

I never thought this would happen; my best friend, someone I thought I could trust, didn’t want to honour his bet.

We had made a bet months ago, and it seemed like he was willing to pay up when I won. Now, here we are, and it’s clear that he doesn’t want to go through with it.

Made a bet on a football match and he lost

It all started when we were talking about the upcoming football match. He said he was sure his team was going to win, but I disagreed. I thought my team was the clear favourite, but he was adamant that his team would win. So, we made a bet: if his team won, I’d buy him dinner; if my team won, he’d buy me dinner.

The match came and went, and as it turned out, my team won. I was ecstatic, and so was he – at least, that’s what he said. After the match, I reminded him of the bet, and he said he’d buy me dinner as he had promised.

Fast forward a few weeks, and I had made plans for dinner. I was looking forward to it, and I had even picked out where I wanted to go.

Suddenly ‘flip prata’ because don’t want to treat me

When I asked him if he was still up for it, he said he was, but then he quickly changed his tune. He said he had been really busy lately and didn’t have the time or money to take me out to dinner.

I was disappointed. We had made a bet, and I thought he would want to honour it. But then I started to get angry. He had clearly gone back on his word, and I didn’t think it was right.

I told him that he had made a promise, and he should stick to it.

In the end, he lan lan but was super sulky

He eventually agreed to take me out to dinner, but it was clear he didn’t want to. He was grumpy the whole time, and he was clearly regretting the bet. I was so disappointed in him. I thought he was a better friend than this.

It was a bad ending to what had started out as a fun bet. My friend had gone back on his word, and it ruined the whole experience for me.

I was so disappointed that he would do something like this. I thought I could trust him, but I was wrong.

From now on, I’m going to be a lot more careful when making bets with people.

SHOP CHARGING PEOPLE $10 FOR ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS, FED UP WITH STAFF BEING DISRUPTED

0

A shop in Hong Kong purportedly imposed a HK$10 charge for those asking for directions after receiving multiple reports of their staff being “harassed”.

Their staff were allegedly being treated poorly by the public and interrupting their work.

HK01 reported that the shop in Portland Street, Yau Ma Tei, was previously a ticket office for a China-Hong Kong cross-border bus company.

The ticket office closed down during the pandemic before the convenience shop moved in about 2 years ago, and many people who were unable to find the previous ticket office started asking the shop for directions.

This came in the wake of the bus company resuming its operations after pandemic restrictions were relaxed by the authorities.

Exasperated with the growing number of enquiries, the shop decided to put up a notice stating that they will be charging those who ask them for directions HK$10 (or SGD$1.71).

A shopkeeper in charge of the convenience store, Yuki, said that they posted the notice on 3 March, without the intention of offending anyone.

However, it seems their notice has rubbed others the wrong way and it was then shared on social media and went viral.

Yuki added that the bus company had initially sent their staff to stand outside the shop and guide others to their office location.

But they eventually stopped doing so, with their customer service station opposite also remaining closed.

Things then escalated with the notice being put up, and the bus company then started sending their staff down to help give directions again, with the customer service station also being reopened.

YP TELLS MANAGER TO WAIT BECAUSE SHE DOESN’T FEEL LIKE TALKING AT THE MOMENT

0

I was trying to take my mind off of all the stress of the day and trying to relax for a while when my manager came up to me and asked me to do something. I didn’t feel like talking at that moment, so I told him to wait.

Made him feel outraged

He was clearly not happy with my response. I could tell he was getting angry, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to chill for a while.

My manager wasn’t having it, though. He started yelling at me in front of everyone in the office. He was saying all sorts of things, and I was getting more and more upset. I didn’t want to cause a scene, so I just stayed silent.

The situation got even worse when he started to threaten me. He said he would fire me if I didn’t do what he asked. I was so scared and I felt like I had no choice but to do what he said. I didn’t want to lose my job, so I reluctantly agreed to do what he asked.

He was not happy even after I agreed to do what he had asked

I was expecting him to be happy with my response, but he wasn’t. He said that my attitude was unacceptable and that he would be writing me up for insubordination.

I was so embarrassed and I felt like I was about to cry. I had never been written up before and I was so scared of what the consequences would be.

I tried to explain my situation to him, but he wasn’t listening. He said that I needed to learn some respect and that this was the only way.

I felt so helpless and I wanted to scream, but I just stayed silent. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to change his mind, so I just nodded my head and went back to my desk.

I was so upset and I wanted to run away, but I knew that I couldn’t. I went back to my desk and tried to focus on my work, but I couldn’t. I was so angry and I felt like my whole world was crashing down around me.

I had no idea what I was going to do. I was scared of being fired and I was so embarrassed. I felt like I had no one to turn to and I was so alone. I wanted to cry, but I just stayed silent.

I knew that this was the end of my career, and I was devastated. I had worked so hard and I had so many plans for the future, but it all seemed to be slipping away.

I was so scared and I didn’t know what to do. I just stayed silent and tried to focus on my work.

I was fired a few days later and I had to start all over again, all thanks to wanting to relax for a while.

MY RICHER FRIENDS GET TO ENJOY DURING HOLIDAYS WHILE I NEED TO WORK PART TIME

0

Growing up in a lower-income family, I’ve always felt a sense of envy towards my wealthier friends. While I’m struggling to make ends meet and juggling part-time jobs, they get to travel the world, enjoy luxury experiences, and have an overall better life.

I get envious whenever they talk about their vacation

Every time they talk about their latest holiday or vacation to some exotic overseas location, my heart sinks.

It’s not that I’m not happy for them. It’s just that I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on something. I mean, they get to go to all sorts of places and do all sorts of things that I can only dream of.

They get to have all these amazing experiences while I’m stuck working part-time jobs to make ends meet.

It’s especially hard for me during the holidays. While my friends are off on some luxurious holiday, I’m stuck at home or at work, trying to make a living.

I try to stay positive and find ways to enjoy my holidays, but it’s hard. I just can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on something.

It’s not just about not being able to go on the same trips as my friends. It’s also about the fact that I’m missing out on quality time with my family and friends.

While they are off having adventures and making memories, I’m stuck at home, trying to make ends meet.

I know that it’s not fair to compare myself to others and that I should be thankful for what I have. But it’s hard not to feel envious of my richer friends. They have so much freedom and opportunity that I can only dream of.

Only form of consolation is that I get money out of my job

At the same time, I’m also grateful for my part-time job. It allows me to support myself and my family, and it’s given me the opportunity to save up some money for the future.

I know that if I work hard and stay focused, I’ll eventually be able to take my own overseas trips and enjoy quality time with my family and friends.

So, I’m trying to stay positive and remind myself that I’m working towards something bigger.

Sure, I may miss out on some of the luxuries that my richer friends get to enjoy, but that doesn’t mean I can’t eventually get there.

I just need to stay focused and keep working hard.

MAN SHARES HORRIFYING VIDEO OF HIS LEGS TURNING TO “PLAYDOUGH” DUE TO ILLNESS

31-year-old Olympic discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, who competed at the 2012 Olympics, shared a video of his legs turning into playdough because of a life-threatening illness.

Sharing the video on TikTok, he was seen in the video pressing down on his shin 6 times, each time leaving a dent behind.

He said that “it’s like I’m made out of playdough”, as netizens chimed in with their possible diagnoses of what may be causing his legs to behave like that.

Some netizens deduced that it was water retention while others said that it would be his liver or kidneys failing, but the majority of the commenters urged Okoye to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

In a follow-up video, Okoye revealed that he is suffering from something called “cellulitis”.

He said that he had a leg injury a few days ago and the wound then got infected with bacteria that caused redness, swelling and that pitted edema that (the viewers) saw.

He said that it is easily treatable with a few weeks of antibiotics and some rest, adding that he “should be back to normal.”

He further added that “a tonne of people were trying to tell me I had heart disease or liver disease, kidney disease, cancer and diabetes but obviously that’s not the case.”

Cellulitis is caused by infection and can be life-threatening if not treated properly, and it can spread to other parts of the body and cause further complications.

S’PORE GIRL BROKE HER ANKLE AFTER STEPPING INTO GAP @ YISHUN WORKSITE

0

A 19-year-old student, Huang Jiamin, was walking along Yishun when her feet accidentally fell into a gap at a construction worksite, resulting in her breaking her ankle.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the girl was walking past the bus stop on Yishun Central opposite Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on 21 February at about 11 am.

The bus stop was under construction at the time with a temporary bus stop being built near it.

Huang said that she was taking her phone out to make a phone call when her left foot suddenly fell into a 20cm deep gap at the worksite.

She then used her right foot in an attempt to steady herself but ended up breaking her right ankle after losing her balance.

Three passers-by came over to help her as she was in excruciating pain and called an ambulance for her before the police arrived at the scene.

Huang was admitted to KTPH and was in so much pain that she cried after the effects of her painkillers had worn off.

She also required surgery for her broken ankle, but it was too swollen and the doctors said that they would have to wait for the swelling to subside first, and her ankle had to be supported with iron plates and screws for 3 months.

She is also expected to miss her polytechnic graduation in April, as well as her university applications and interviews.

Her father told SMDN that he went to check out the construction site where his daughter had broken her ankle at, and saw that the gap had been filled up, with railings installed and yellow warning lines painted.

But Jiamin said that on the day of the accident, there were no warning signs or railing around.

A spokesperson from LTA said that they are aware of the incident and have provided assistance to the girl.

MAN ARGUES WITH SIBLINGS OVER FATHER’S WILL BECAUSE HE GETS TOO LITTLE

0

I was never the favorite child of my father. My siblings always seemed to get more attention from him, and as a result, I felt neglected and even more resentful of my siblings.

When my father died, I thought maybe I would finally get the recognition I deserved, but I was wrong.

Argued with my siblings over the will of my father

I was always jealous of my siblings because they got more of my father’s attention than I did. Even when it came to his will, I was sure that I would get more than them.

When my siblings and I gathered to hear the will, I was shocked to find out that I was getting less than they were.

I accused them of making my father leave more for them

I was so angry that I started to argue with them, accusing them of conspiring against me and manipulating my father into leaving them more than me.

My siblings were just as angry with me as I was with them. They tried to tell me that my father had given them more because he knew them better and was closer to them.

I was so upset that I refused to listen and kept arguing with them. We kept going back and forth until my siblings had had enough and just left the room.

I felt so betrayed by my siblings and my father. I had expected to get more from my father’s will, and I felt like I had been robbed of my rightful inheritance.

Got a lawyer to contest my father’s will, but lost

I was so angry that I decided to take matters into my own hands. I decided to hire a lawyer to challenge the will and try to get more of my father’s money.

I was sure that I could get more money if I argued my case in court. I was confident that I could prove that my father had been manipulated and had not given me a fair share of his wealth. I was determined to get what I deserved.

But I was wrong. Even though I had a strong case, the judge ruled against me. He said that my father had been clear in his will and that I had no grounds to challenge it.

I was so angry and disappointed that I stormed out of the courtroom, unable to accept that I had lost.

KOREAN AUNTIE STABS 3 PEOPLE ON TRAIN AFTER CALLED “aujmma”

0

Korean police reported on Saturday that a woman aged 37 has been accused of injuring three individuals with a knife while on a subway.

She claimed that she did so because someone had called her “ajumma”.

The identity of the accused has not been disclosed. The incident took place on a subway train heading to Jukjeon Station in the city of Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, where two women in their 60s and a man in his 50s were injured.

According to the subway police, the accused was talking on the phone when one of the two women asked her to speak more quietly, referring to her as “ajumma”. The accused said that this term offended her, although “ajumma” is a casual term used to refer to middle-aged women who are unrelated to the speaker.

Over time, the term has acquired negative connotations among Koreans. One victim had to undergo surgery, but none of the injuries were fatal.

Arrest

Officials have sought an arrest warrant for the accused on the grounds of “special violence” inflicted on another individual. This charge is similar to aggravated assault and can be applied when an injury is caused by a lethal weapon or group effort. It carries a penalty of 1-10 years in prison. Carrying a weapon also violates Article 42 of the Railroad Safety Act, but no charges were made for this particular offense.

The use of the term “ajumma” in public has sparked controversies in the past. For instance, during the 2021 Seoul mayoral election, Ahn Cheol-soo, then a candidate for the now-defunct People’s Party, came under fire for referring to his opponent, Park Young-sun of the Democratic Party of Korea, as an “ajumma who has an apartment in Tokyo.” Furthermore, in 2019, a local court upheld the military’s decision to suspend a colonel who had derogatorily referred to female subordinates as “ajumma.”

BOSS MAKES ME WORK EVEN WHEN ON LEAVE, CAN SQUEEZE HOW MUCH JUST SQUEEZE

0

It was the last weekend leading up to my much-needed vacation, and I was just counting down the hours until I could take my well-deserved break.

I had been working hard all year, and I was so excited to finally have some time off. I had even made plans to visit some friends and family and to just relax and unwind.

Little did I know that my boss had other plans.

Wants me to work even when I’m on leave

It started when I received a text from my boss, asking me to come into work that Saturday morning. I was confused, since I was meant to be on leave, but I reluctantly agreed as I didn’t want to risk getting in trouble.

I arrived to find that my boss had decided to make us all work that day, and even though I was on leave, I was expected to take part in the tasks.

I was frustrated and angry, but I had to comply as I knew I would get into trouble if I didn’t.

This happened every time when I am on my leave, and each time I was expected to work even though I was on vacation.

Even when I am away from the country, I would still receive a lot of work calls and emails from him.

My boss was squeezing us all as much as he could, and it was really taking its toll on me. I was exhausted and I couldn’t enjoy my time off like I had planned.

Finally, after a long week of working and feeling like I had no freedom, my vacation ended and I returned to work.

Came back after leave, told me I need to make up for ‘lost’ time

This time, however, my boss had a new plan. He had decided that he would make us work even longer hours and expect us to put in extra effort to make up for the “lost” time that we had taken off during our leave.

I was outraged but I knew that I didn’t have a choice. So, I continued to work as hard as I could, but it felt like my boss was determined to squeeze every last drop of effort from us.

I was so angry and frustrated with my boss’s attitude. It felt like he was taking advantage of us and our hard work.

It was clear that he wanted to make as much money from us as possible, and he was not going to let us have any enjoyment or freedom during our time off.
