GUY FINISHED HIS DEGREE IN AUSTRALIA, RETURNS TO S’PORE BUT CAN’T FIND A JOB

0

Job market for a fresh grad is terrible

I just finished my degree in Australia and have to come back to Singapore and work for 3 years as part of my government bond.

I know it is going to be a hard, underpaid, overworked life as an architect in Singapore but I am willing to grind it out for 3 years.

The problem is, it is extremely difficult for me to find a job here. Most ‘entry level’ jobs require at least 2 years of experience and most companies want experienced architects.

I have tried all the avenues, cold emailing companies, applying for all the available jobs on my careers future, linkedin, jobstreet etc. but to no avail.

The jobs on these websites often low-ball with salaries as low as 2.5k per month for a degree holder. The companies who do get back to me and ask for an interview ghost me afterwards even though the interviews went pretty well.

I guess they are holding out to find the best person for the job but it is super disappointing, especially after my peers who stayed in Australia have starting salaries of 70k per year.

Also, if you search up the top architecture firms in Singapore on glassdoor, the reviews are terrible. Sorry, just wanted to rant.

17 Y.O GIRL EARNING $5K/MONTH, FINDS OUT SHE’S PREGNANT WITH TRIPLETS

0

I found out I’m pregnant with triplets at 17 years old.

Throwaway for privacy. I didn’t really think that such a thing could happen to me. I’m really scared. I have a decent paying job and live with my boyfriend. He’s super excited but I’m unsure.

We could afford the babies, and extended family have all said they would help with any children I had. I’m just not sure if I’m ready to have so many kids at this age.

I don’t have any goals or ambitions right now. Not schooling anymore, so that wouldn’t be an issue. I’ve already graduated as well.

I guess I just wanted to ask some ppl here what they think of my situation and to get this off my chest. Please keep in mind that this is a very stressful time for me. I feel kinda trapped.

Edit: I also do have slight mental health issues but I regularly attend therapy and will continue to before the babies would be born.

Edit: I own a semi famous sewing shop (no store it’s just online) with my mom. I get around 5k a month after we pay for supplies and split the remaining money. Sometimes it’s a little less but eh.

GIRL MET UP ONLINE DATE, WHO ASKED HER SO MANY QUESTIONS LIKE IT’S AN INTERROGATION

0

Literally writing this after meeting a guy from CMB.

From the moment i sat down he’s been asking things like whats your inspiration in life? Are u looking to climb the corporate ladder? U dont seem to have any aspiration? What’s your struggle in life right now? Are u happy in ur job right now?

I straight up told him “look, i dont feel comfortable to be honest. Tried holding up the conversation by telling him more about myself and that generated even more questions from him.

He told me that by telling him that i feel uncomfortable means I’m putting the blame on him for my negativity.. and that I should chill and relax and if i dont, i wont be able to do anything great in life.

The entire experience was just…. weird AF. Kinda ended the conversation and get my ass out by saying I have to go and meet my friends later (which is the truth anyways).

Dunno if its me or he is just “special”.

Edit: And for some reason, he was talking about the economy and bringing the biden administration into the conversation and how it is going to impact the entire world and then talking about AI. Ok. Serious shit.

BROKE FRIEND ALWAYS ORDERS EXPENSIVE FOOD, THEN HIDES IN TOILET WHEN THE BILL COMES

0

Feels illegal asking for my own money back

A friend in our common clique refuses to pay us back his share of the bill everytime we head out.

When reminded, he explains that he is ‘tight these days’ and will transfer us asap, however, it goes on for months and many of us don’t get our money back.

It’s not that we are unsympathetic towards his financial difficulties, but this friend seems to be clearly living beyond his means and we have to foot the bill for his indulgence.

For some context, this friend orders alcohol when the rest of us don’t, leading to his share of the bill becoming the largest. When it’s time to get the bill, he magically disappears to the washroom.

Edit: We tagged him in the group all the time and pm him individually well but he just replies ‘ok will inform when i tsf’ or ‘am tight now’

Netizens’ comments

I sympathise with people who can’t afford their meals but to order beyond their means… that’s not it man. Growing up I didn’t have a lot of pocket money to go out with friends.

I will try to order within my means even in a group setting. It’s basic curtesy to pay back, even if it’s your closest group of friends.

I think just split the bill whenever you hang out with him. Like when he goes to the wash room, get the bill and pay individually. So when he’s back, he will have to deal with his own bills. He is obviously overstepping here.

COUPLE ALREADY GOT BTO, BUT STUBBORN WIFE WANTS CONDO INSTEAD BECAUSE IT’S HER “DREAM”

0

It’s my wife’s dream to own a condo. We have no property in SG at the moment but already got a BTO with eta to completion in 2024.

Wife wants to either forgo the bto and buy a condo or rent out the bto and buy a condo.

If we were to get a condo we will end up paying a monthly mortgage of 2.6k a month. Not including maintenance fees.

I do not wish to purchase a condo as logically a condo would be a financial burden on us. My wife does not care for this and believe we can and should purchase a condo because it’s her dream. We don’t earn much but a combination income of approximately 7k a month.

What should I do? We have been fighting for weeks. About this and she refuse to back down from the idea of buying and living in a condo.

Thank you all for your comments and insights! Appreciate the support and advice!

Netizens’ comments

  1. 7K a month combined

  4. After discussing and arguments, refused to back down.

Damn bro.. this is just a tip of the ice berg. Your life is going to be a living hell from here. You are not going to have too many good night sleep 💤

COUPLE WARNS OTHER COUPLES NOT TO NAME THEIR CHILDREN “KOK LONG, SHI TING”

0

My GF and I were discussing about family plan for the future. One of the topics was naming children. Studies have shown that bad naming is bad for kids as they may become a target for others.

I experienced that when I was in primary school due to bad name given by parents.

Name is one of the biggest challenges for parents. I wish parents to know naming kids is not creating a new username.

My partner and I talked about it and we came out with names to avoid:

  1. Kok Long or Long Kok (you know, you know)
  2. Jayden, Aden, j’den, Eden, Caden or whatever den
  3. Chinese names with the initial of CB
  4. Abcde (god this is legit name)
  5. JJ, jay jay
  6. Jezebel
  7. Unisex names
  8. Arson (God knows whether the parents know the meaning behind it)
  9. Abcde
  10. Virginia (people will call you as virgina instead)

Netizens’ comments

  • I mean… I know a Dickson idk why would anyone name their son that. And pls don’t Jun Jie, Wei Xiang, Jia Jun, Wei Hao, Wen Jun, Heng Jie, And definitely not Daryl Ian Koshy
  • Dont use “ting” or “ling” at the back

    Avoid “den” names.
  • I saw someone in army with the name tag LJ Cheong

GUY DATED 3 GIRLS IN 6 MONTHS, GIRLS KEEP TELLING HIM “I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WANT”

0

Why is dating so hard in Singapore?

26/M here, so one of my resolutions for 2022 is to date someone and hopefully settle down with her a few years down the road. Till date, I’ve dated a girl for 4 months, another for 1 month and recently just ended things with another girl after dating for just 1 week. Might sound like a player but trust me, I got played real hard.

I’ll summarize what they told me when I asked them how we should proceed with our relationship:

4 month girl: I like you a lot, just not how you want me to so I was really struggling (basically friend-zoned). I don’t think I should date you cos I can’t be the best of myself and that’s unfair to you.

1 month girl: Sorry I decided to give my ex another chance (her ex asked to reconcile when we were seeing each other) and I am not over my ex.

1 week girl: I don’t know what I want and I feel like we’re moving at different paces and dating isn’t a priority for me now.

Sorry just wanna rant, I think I’m generally a decent guy myself but I just haven’t met the right person. That’s life but I’ll still be actively finding the one, wish me luck everyone!

MAN RUNS SHIRTLESS @ ECP, AUNTIE SHOUTS “CAN YOU PUT ON A SHIRT, GOT LADIES HERE”

0

SG no longer allowed to run shirtless?

Was just running along ECP in the afternoon, to improve 2.4km timing.

There I was running along ECP track, run halfway suddenly a lady I believe in mid-30s, came to me and stops Infront of me, saying the following to me.

“Excuse me Mr, can you put on your shirt? There are females that are jogging here too, ok? Can put yourself in their shoes?”

Me trying to avoid any further shit, I just put it on and carried on running. That is of course, after a certain distance, I took it off again.

The weather was super hot today, and I remember pre covid, there were guys who are exercising shirtless too.

Netizens’ comments

  • That lady should start asking men in swimming pools to shirt-up then.
  • I think u should continue running, she probably won’t be able to catch up anyway
  • You should tell her, you are free to take off yours too.
  • What about women running in sport bra? If I were you, I would ignore and continue running, otherwise can educate the lady about the benefit of running shirtless under hot and humid SG weather, and let her know women also run shirtless.. Just that the put on sport bra..

OLDER GUY FLASHES HIS ‘BIRD’ AT GIRL WHO TRUSTS HIM

0
Was flashed by a “trusted” older man in my life and I’m pissed.

Alright so long story short as I was leaving his house last week I believe he flashed me intentionally

I had to loop around a building to leave out of the driveway and when I waved bye to him he was standing slightly behind something when I looped around to face him and leave the property he had his pants down to about mid thigh and his ‘bird’ was out.

I immediately thought he was peeing and averted my eyes but after I had time to think about it…..

What in the F. He has countless places to pee discreetly and there was no reason at all his F should have been out. He literally could have just turned around.

He knew I was coming that direction to leave and would see him. I’m not 100% he was even peeing I just saw a dick and was like oh fuck and averted my eyes and acted like I saw nothing as I left.

I’m mad at myself for not calling him out on his behaviour. Im angry and scared because I’ve been alone with this dude several times in the past and that terrifies me.

What the F dude. I warned the other women in our friend group about it and that he is not a safe person. We haven’t had contact since then and I don’t think I want to even call him out, but not sure what to say if he reaches out.

MAN SAYS SG IS QUITE CONSERVATIVE, DON’T DARE APPROACH STRANGER IN PUBLIC

0

Singapore is quite conservative & people are shy comparing with most western countries, I feel it’s extremely rare here to get comments/compliments from random passerby strangers, not to mention how much courage a girl has to build up to approach a stranger dude here.

So I wonder for guys, have you ever been approached by any stranger girls?

Or at the least, ever get random compliments from stranger girls? (exclude shuai ge calls from cai png stall aunties)

Here are what netizens think:

Yes, they usually tell me they not selling me anything. Then proceeds to sell me something.

Yes, Great Eastern ladies.

They treated me like egyptian king and even shared with me their pyramid schemes.

My friend’s younger brother was sitting at a bus stop and got asked out by a girl lol and now they’ve been dating for like 6 months. She’s brave as hell, I wish I had that kind of courage to ask a random boy out

Nowadays everyone wearing mask so if you ask a guy out it’s like gachapon haha

Yes I get approached all the time by foreigners trying to find their way around in SG

When I was younger I (a dude) was approached by a dude saying, “Hi I’m from such-and-such an agency and I really think you have a look about you blablabla…” And I laughed so hard the dude walked off. I can’t get girls to give me a first glance and here this idiot thinks I’m gonna buy his bullshit. Lol. Anyways no never been approached unless she was an agent of some sort.
