TIKOPEK DOCTOR TAKE UPSKIRT PHOTOS OF WOMEN, SUSPENDED 14 MTHS & JAILED 30 WEEKS

Dr Sim Choon Seng, pleaded guilty to a disciplinary charge against him by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) for taking an upskirt photo of a woman on an escalator at JEM on 28 July 2016.

He was suspended from practicing medicine for 14 months by an independent disciplinary tribunal set up to look into the case.

The SMC published the judgment on their website on Thursday (20 May).

Sim was previously convicted of his crimes and served 30 weeks in jail in 2019, after pleading guilty to his offences.

After his arrest, the police found 178 photos of different victims taken between November 2014 and June 2016, he was also fined $3,000 for having 3 obscene videos on his phones.

Sim’s lawyer said that he had proactively sought medical help for his “late onset persistent depressive disorder” and had undergone treatment during police investigations, before and after his imprisonment.

The SMC is of the opinion that Sim’s conviction for the offence implies a defect in his character that makes him unfit to be a doctor.

In the end, Sim was suspended for 14 months from practicing medicine by the tribunal and ordered to pay the cost of the disciplinary proceedings as well.
