MAN BOUGHT TUA PEK GONG “AMULET” FROM FORTUNE TELLER FOR $188 TO “CHANGE LUCK”

A Facebook user shared how he visited a fortune teller at Fu Lu Shou who apparently charged him $12 per question.

He said that she could apparently tell him some of his “past history” but then gave him nonsense advise, such as renting out his 2 room BTO (which cannot be rented out yet during the 5-year MOP period).

He then asked her for advise to change his luck, and she then offered him a Tua Pek Gong “amulet” for $188″, which he then bought after seeing his friend getting it.

Here is what he said

Wondering if anybody went to see this fortune teller at fu lu shou, can share your experience.

She charges $12 a question. We ask her a few questions.

My friend and i walk past her shop and went to consult her.

She was able to say some of our past history without us telling her. But she gives nonsense advise.

Eg. She say you can rent out your 2 room bto. She obviously don’t know sg law, that 2 room bto cannot be rented out during 5 years mop.

My friend ask her if there is anyways that he can change his luck. She tell him to get this da bo gong amulet for $188 and pray to it. I have attach the picture of this amulet in this post too.

I also got this amulet when i saw my friend getting it.

MAN STRUGGLING & RESISTING ARREST BY POLICE OFFICERS @ BOON KENG

A video emerged online showing a man being arrested by police officers outside what appears to be an MRT station, at the side of the road.

The incident purportedly happened at Boon Keng, according to the netizen who shared the video.

The man was seen in the video being held onto by the police officers, as he struggled and tried to break free.

The two police officers then finally managed to bring him down, before the other officers helped them by pinning the man onto the ground.

He was eventually handcuffed, as he remained seated on the ground while more police officers arrived at the scene.

It is unclear what exactly happened that led to his arrest, and he was presumably escorted into a police vehicle at the end of the video.

UNCLE CROSSING ROAD SLOWLY, KENA HONKED BY DRIVER, NOT HAPPY

A video emerged online showing an uncle walking in the middle of a service road at an unspecified HDB estate.

The video begins with the driver of the camcar driving down the service road, as the uncle emerges into frame.

The uncle was seen in the video walking on the side of the road as he slowly tries to cross the road, with the camcar approaching.

The uncle was also seen in the video not checking behind him for traffic as he walked down the middle of the road.

The camcar then honks at him, which visibly enraged the uncle, who then gestured angrily at the driver, who had stopped his car.

The uncle remained in the middle of the road, gesturing at the driver to presumably show him the amount of space that he (the driver) has to drive on.

He then went on his way shortly after that.

FAMILY WITH SINGLE INCOME OF $12K, GIVES ADVICE ON BUYING HDB HOMES

0

I’m a stay home mum in my mid 30s, my husband’s income is about $12k, which I consider substantial. Being pragmatic and frugal by nature allows us to sustain this single income lifestyle where I can stay home w the kid. We don’t need alot of things to be happy and so don’t see a need to chase material things that add to stress.

We currently stay in a 3rm HDB and are moving to 5rm since baby #2 is coming in Oct, so we need more bedrooms.

At the start of our house hunting journey, I honestly felt like you too! Because our income was not low, we didn’t qualify for subsidy.

We’re also not well off enough to afford private housing comfortably without stressing about monthly instalments. Private housing is out of the qn for us in the foreseeable years because I don’t want to put extra stress on my husband and we also see no need to stay private. I think it’s the inside of the house that matters, not the outside, since we spend most of the time at home, not in the function room or swimming pool.

When choosing our new 5rm resale flat, our key considerations were location, to be close to extended family. But that meant we had to continue to stay in mature estate where HDB prices are crazy. 5rm or EA flats around the area is at least $700-$800k onwards..

Both of us didn’t want to pay this much for a 99yr lease. As we are also skeptical how much we’ll be able to sell it for in future.

So to combat this, we looked at older units and low floor. It helped that my husband prefers low floor, and I liked that older units are bigger.

After more than 15 viewings, and months scrolling on propertyguru, we finally found a flat from 1970s, 5rm, mature estate, low floor, at less than $600k, with a greenery view at the balcony.

I think it’s entirely possible to find something comfortable within your budget so that u don’t have to postpone plans just to save up for that ideal property at sky high prices.. You just have to go for many many viewings, so that u can find something that’s acceptable to both of u.

If you would like advice, don’t let housing or lack of push back your marriage plans. My big regret is not having kids earlier. I had my first baby at 33. Second one is coming in a few months at 35. I feel tired and old already.. But we still want to try for baby #3, as my husband and I are both only children so we know it gets lonely.

My husband and I got married in our late 20s. At that time he was still studying, but we didn’t want to wait for BTO and too broke to buy resale. So we rented a 1 bedroom condo at $1.5k per month, which was very affordable. But that was the rental market years ago, i don’t know what it is like now. Maybe u can consider renting a cheap / affordable place in the meantime to start settling down.. After 1yr rental, my husband graduated and we bought our first 3rm resale flat and have stayed here till now.

We also didn’t have a lavish wedding/ proposal / diamond ring. We don’t see the need for all these. So it also helped to save money and put it into longer term things..

However, I do have to agree with u about renovation costs! Now that I’m embarking on the reno journey myself, prices are crazy.

Because our new flat is so old, we really can’t keep anything. It needs a complete redo of floor tiles, electrical, lighting, toilets, kitchen.. Really everything. We’re not even looking at elaborate carpentry or anything very fancy, our 3 quotes have come back ranging from $75k- $120k. And this is just renovation cost, not including appliances, aircon and furniture!

I find this really unbelievable. I’m still persevering to find more reasonable quotes. I will not spend $100k on reno, it’s crazy. I think $60k is probably our max, but we haven’t found that yet, still working on it…

Good luck to you on your house hunting. Don’t give up on HDB, not everything is $1mil.. $1mil is usually for penthouse unit but do you really need that to be happy? Take time to find, you’ll surely find something you both like.

Also, your first house likely won’t be your last. So don’t need to go all the way to $1mil immediately. Because it’s the first time you will be staying on your own, there’s alot of things you will need to experience to know if you will actually like it.. So no need to max out on your first home yet.

Like for us, we were so noob choosing our first hdb, we only went to view in the night after work. So we didn’t know it was so dark. It doesn’t have natural light coming in as it  is blocked by opposite block and is a corridor unit so I even have to turn on lights in the day!

But we’ll chalk it down to first timer mistake. So for all our subsequent houses, we know clearly what we want / can live with and what we absolutely cannot and we’re able to make better decisions..

One last thought, maybe don’t go private la, i imagine it must be very stressful to carry such a big loan on your shoulders at this early stage, esp if u say both of you have not much savings yet . But that’s just me.

HUSBAND’S FAMILY FORCES WIFE TO TAKE EVERY COMMAND LIKE A SLAVE

0

I’ve rewritten this so many times before posting and it’s been too long of a read so to sum things up, I 22F have been with my husband 26M for 3 years. 1 year of dating, 1 year engaged, and 1 year married now. We’ve been together since I was 19.

My husband feels like I am selfish for taking care of myself or only thinking about myself in our marriage. It sounds wrong but hear me out! I have given up a lot for my husband. I was in uni when we met. I dropped out, quit working, and became the ideal housewife because his parents wanted him to marry someone who would come and take care of them and wouldn’t accept me any other way.

His family constantly nitpicks me and complains that I’m not good enough for him because I’m not skinny, Christian, or pretty. His mom is never satisfied with anything I do and ensures to keep both me and him on a tight leash. Especially me. We both are limited to the things we can do because his mom gives us a hard time any time we do anything she doesn’t like.

After all this time, im sick and tired of putting up with all the bs. They limit me all the time. Put these outrageous restrictions and requirements on me and when I can’t fulfil them then I’m just the bad one. His family treats me like dog S… and steps all over me, he barely defends me and almost always justifies the things they do or say I don’t see the bigger picture/not mature enough, etc. my husband cannot provide for me emotionally because he chooses his family over me.

So I began to take care of myself by trying to do what makes me happy, even if it makes them upset. But now my husband is mad at me because I’m the one not willing to get along (in the way he wants) with his family or compromise.

I get along fine with them in my opinion. I’m respectful, I’m polite, but I just don’t engage with them or get close to anyone and even so, it’s not enough for him.

But what am I supposed to say or feel??? I can’t just go on and pretend they didn’t do anything wrong to me and just cater to his family all the time. I’ve catered to them long enough! And he couldn’t even help me at all during that time.

I spent countless nights crying and wondering if maybe I was unworthy or that maybe I made a mistake being with him. But I’m sick of all that. I just want to be happy. I just wanna be the girl I once was. And whenever I say that, he says I just want to be single or that I wasn’t good until I’ve been with him.

I was immature and now I’m a woman. But I feel like I was free and happy, but now I’m just miserable and like a slave. He’s always gaslighting me and turns every problem back onto me. I’m always the one overreacting, overthinking, being childish, being immature, never seeing the bigger picture, etc. he hates that I always have something I’m always unhappy about…he hates that I think I do so much when I’m just doing “physical labor” and that everything I do is not hard.

GUY FOUND OUT GF WAS THE ONE WHO SABO HIS FIRST RELATIONSHIP WITH EX-GF

0

(M18) I just found out my gf (F18) sabotaged my first relationship, She and I have been dating for a month now.

Yesterday she was talking to some of her friends and I overheard her say that she told the girl I was dating before her that I was once arrested for drugs (not true, btw, I never touched drugs).

My ex believed her and just dumped me. She didn’t give me any reason then and I only found out why she broke up with me yesterday.

I don’t know how to process this and whether I can still trust my current gf.

Netizens’ comments

  • Get away from this girl, at speeds previously unknown to mankind. She manipulated your life to force a relationship with you, she is likely to do this repeatedly for the rest of your life. You will lose all control over every aspect of your life that she doesn’t like. This is a red flag so large you can see it from orbit. Run, now, this second.
  • That’s awful. What a nasty girl. If she can lie about that I wonder what else she will lie about to get her own way. Don’t tell your you know, just end it saying you realise you aren’t compatible.
  • You can’t trust someone like that. What other lies has she told and what lies do you think she’ll tell you to get what she wants?
  • The speed of light is 186,282 miles per second, somehow someway you need to be just a bit faster than that and get away from your current girlfriend.

He then entered a tent and identified himself, before telling his audience, “so here’s the inside scoop on this bulls*** wedding.”

According to TMZ, a physical confrontation then ensued and the police had to be called in, with officers from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arresting him following reports of trespassing.

Alexander also had outstanding warrants against him from another jurisdiction.

MAN LAZY TO DRIVE GF HOME AFTER SLEEPING TOGETHER

0

So basically my girlfriend 19, i’m 21 btw, in a three and a half years together, only slept once at my place before because she has really strict parents and they never let her stay out at boyfriends.

Yesterday we hung out with my friends and she decided to lie to her parent and come sleep at my place. Before we met with my friends at my place, she told me that she needed to go home, and she asked me to drive her home, by 8/9AM, the next morning; so i told her that it depended on when we were going to sleep.

We went to sleep at 4:30/5AM and she woke up at 8:30 PRETENDING that i drove her home after 4 hours of sleep. I refused because i don’t want to drive while I’m sleeping and i didn’t want to drink a ton of coffee to wake up (i also drank 2/3 beers yesterday night and was still vaguely dizzy from that too, other than beeing tired).

Let me make something clear before i continue, we live around a kilometre apart so it’s not that long of a trip but the road, for half of the trip, is really really bad and has some turns where, if you’re driving, you don’t really see what’s next so i really didnt want her to go home alone.

I told her that i could pay for a MRT ride that would have shorten the trip to a quarter of the length and made her avoid the turns part and she said no, i told her that if she waited a couple of hours i could have driven her home but apparently she “has to study” (by being on her phone texting me how mad she is) so she had to go home early.

So anyway she decided to walk home and her dad found her on the way home so she had to tell him everything and i think she’s mad also because her dad told her that she should be. And today is also kinda hot which makes it worste.

So, am i at fault for not driving her home?
