Ordered a service from GOfix under HDB minor repairs listings, to repair my toilet bowl flushing system. GOfix assigned this PJC Builders PTE LTD to handle my case.
Their technician came on 4/6/2022, asking for $265 for replacement of the toilet flushing system in the toilet bowl upon onsite survey, which is not the reasonable price for this service and before he reached my house I did ask him on phone regarding will the cost exceeds $100 he replied no.
As I’ve checked with 6 toilet bowl fixing companies, the full set of toilet bowl syphon pump system(including the valve) replacement usually will only costs between $150~$180 only. If you’re charging within this prices range, I’m totally fine.
Technicians from other fixing companies told be that $250 above will be charged only in the case if the toilet bowl needed to be dismantled for repair.But most replacements of the flushing system do not need to dismantled the toilet bowl.
This technician from PJC Builders overquote the price to $265 just for replacement of toilet bowl syphon pump control valve and demand me to pay $25 for survey fee if I don’t accept his demand for the $265 service fees.
And this $265 service fees wasn’t disclosured to me before coming despite I have called the technician to describe the issue and asked him for the quotation before he approach.
If every workman doing in this way, they also can anyhow quote for any overcharged price they wanted, and if the customers disagree with their sudden quotation on site, they can still earn $25 without doing anything.
In this case, customers are only left with 2 options. Either pay them the overcharged service fees they demanded which was not told before they approach for on site survey, or forced to pay them the survey fee for doing nothing if the customers rejected that unreasonable overcharged service fees damand.
Make me feel like falling into a trap of scam!
All other fixing companies and home renovations companies that I have engaged with, provide free quotation first, only after the customer signed/agreed with their quotations, then they proceed with the arrangement of work.In this scenario, if they want the customers to pay for the survey fee or even confiscated the deposit if the customers changed their mind after signing the agreement of the quotation, then this is totally acceptable.
I have the same service done by another contractor, get my flushing system done at only $150, no hidden cost, no survey fee.
Now what I am encountering with this PJC Builders assigned by GOfix was like, I wanted to order a food delivery thinking that it is just an economic priced dinner within normal ranges of budget, but there wasn’t any menu or prices shown upon placing the order, so I can’t choose the food and the costs were unknown upon placing the order. The cost remains unknown even if I asked. Nvm, I think of the positive side and assumed that the price will still be within the normal ranges. Then when the meal was delivered to my doorstep, the delivery man demanded me to pay for $1,000 for single pax chicken rice which usually only cost about $5~$12 from all other restaurants(If I know they will demand this kind of charges for this kind of food, I will not even think about ordering it at all). Then when I rejected the order, the delivery man demanded me to pay for their transportation fee for $25 without any food delivered(which is also very unreasonable for the transportation fee if you transport within Singapore even from end to end). Paying $25 for nothing!!!
How do you think? This is how bad I’m feeling right now after dealing with this company.
They make it mandatory for paying $25 on site survey fee even if you don’t accept their quotation at the end.
Quotation is not disclosed before they come on site for survey, and will only revealed upon approach.
They will be quoting a lot higher than most/all
market rates for the same services provided elsewhere.
By then you’re only left with 2 options, you can choose either one :
1. Accept their overpriced service.
2. Reject their overpriced service, but still have to pay for the mandatory survey fee $25 for doing nothing.
***Please do not engage in any service or business which their prices are NOT disclosed upon ordering. Because they might extort overpriced service than any elsewhere later on!
Updated : Gofix explained that the materials alone are very expensive and cost $180-$200(shown on picture 2, their email). I go and check with DIY store online site, materials all add up don’t even need $100(pic 3 & 4).
Updated : Pic 5 This screenshot of WhatsApp was how a good contactor company should do, they disclose all the possible costs clearly before any payment is needed from the customers.
I got my problem fixed only at $150 without any hidden cost.
Unlike GOfix and his cooperative contractor PJC Builders, they refused to reveal any possible costs before coming, and quote the customers very much higher beyond the market rates after the on-site survey. if you rejected their overpriced quotation, you still have to pay them their survey fee $25.

Although I didn’t engage with them because I have chosen another one with a even lower cost $150, but they are still good contactor who provided free on-site survey and free transparent quotation first before any payment is needed from the customers.
