RIVER VALLEY TEEN ACCUSED OF MURDER TRANSFERRED TO CHANGI PRISON

The 16-year-old accused who shocked the whole nation after he was accused of hacking a secondary 1 student to death has been moved to Changi Prison Complex.

A gag order has been issued by the court and he shall not be named.

He was previously held in Cantonment Complex before he was moved to prison. By moving him to Changi Prison, visits from his lawyer and parents will soon be allowed.

What happened?

The 16-year-old suspect who is being charged with the murder of a 13-year-old boy at River Valley High School with an axe, previously had a video call request by his parents rejected by the court in a hearing on 10 August.

District Judge Brenda Tan rejected the request, citing that it was an inopportune time for such arrangements, which can be made at an appropriate time.

However, in a turn of events, the police have since arranged for a video call between the suspect and his parents.

The Murder

The police received a call for help at 6 Boon Lay Avenue on July 19 at around 11.40am.

Officers arrived and found the 13-year-old victim lying motionless at the toilet with multiple wounds.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both teenagers didn’t know each other.

To our understanding, the full facts of the case are yet to be ascertained and police investigations are currently ongoing.

REMITTANCE COMPANY EMPLOYEE WARNS OF SCAMS, “SEND MONEY TO PHILLIPPINES”

I’m working for a money remittance company in Singapore. In the past 2 weeks, there has been an increase in scams involving Lalamove or those working for Lalamove Driver Partner Singapore falling victim to these scams.

Modus operandi: A “customer” orders you to help send money overseas first, usually to someone in the PHILLIPPINES and promises to pay u in cash when u meet the customer(usually at a hotel cos excuse will be cant go out/SHN notice) to collect payment.

For example, u send $200 at money remittance and later collect $300 from the customer or send $400 they collect $550 from the customer. The extra money is the customer’s way of luring u into this scam.

Once u send the funds to the Philippines and want to collect your money, the “customer” then becomes uncontactable. Please do not fall prey to these scams! Pass this info around.
