Have you ever been so annoyed by your neighbours doing housework late at night? Well, a Yishun resident was disturbed at night when he heard his neighbours drilling at about 9 PM.
According to a HDB renovation works guideline documents
“The house owners are advised not to carry out any Do‐It‐Yourself (DIY) works involving drilling and hammering from 10.30pm to 7am as such works generate some amount of noise which may cause disturbance to your neighbours. If you are unable to keep within these limits, you should inform your neighbours beforehand”.
Look at the keyword, “advised”. That practically means that they still can do it if they find the noise levels are acceptable. But judging from the video the netizen posted it is abit too loud.
Difference between “restricted” and “advised”
However, for Noisy renovation such as demolition of walls, removing wall/floor finishes, cutting of tiles and drilling works, etc. are restricted from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily during weekdays.
A “rude awakening” indeed, a resident woke up with his room smothered with smoke. Upon looking down his unit he saw the incense bin has been shifted to the front of unit.
He also highlighted that at least 11 people were gathered at the location
Here is the story:
woke up to the smell of incense and to my surprise they shifted the whole bin to right infront of our unit..this is not the first time..that is not the designated place to do burning..this did not happen once or twice..but on multiple occasions.
i am not being racist whatsoever but if the reason they shifted it because their unit is where the bin originally is then they are really being selfish.. another problem .. 11 people on one spot? really?
I apologize if i offended anybody here..i really do not have anything against your race or religion. i hahe many friends their race and religion.. but things like this is just rude and selfish.. why move the bin in the first place?.. may i have some advice who to complain to as my mom and i have complained to the MP of chua chu kang before and nothing useful was done.. thank you

Dr Chee Soon Juan was contacted by a resident in Bukit Batok and found several lamppost that were not properly secured and could be a danger to the residents in the area.
He brought up the Toa Payoh incident where two youngster were electrocuted and stress the need for authorities to take action in order to safe guard the residents
Here is what he posted on Facebook:
I went down to BB yesterday to check out a complaint from a resident regarding wires dangerously exposed in lampposts. If I didn’t take these photos, you would think that I’m making this stuff up.
These lampposts are in and around Blk 162-164 in BB. The first photo is at a playground in front of a busy NTUC store. As you can see, the cover of the post is missing, exposing electrical wires.
I posted a couple of weeks ago about two teenagers being electrocuted after coming into contact with lampposts in Toa Payoh. One would have thought that after this incident, MPs would step up their vigilance regarding electrically exposed facilities in their estates.
Apparently, however, not in BB. A quick check (and this is just on the concourse around a few blocks, I dread to think what goes on in the other parts of the estate) showed that there were multiple lampposts whose conditions were in a decrepit and dangerous state.
Not only did covers of control panels and fuse boxes go entirely missing, some were held in place by electrical tape, others had wires coming out of the control box that fed power to lights at a pavilion, etc and so on.
After the incident at Toa Payoh, it seems that no lesson was learnt and the sorry state will continue until the next incident happens where injuries are inflicted and lives even lost. The MP would then come out, apologise profusely and “accept responsibility”.
I warned at that time that MPs, in this case Mr Murali, needed to spend more time taking care of the estate and looking into matters that jeopardised the safety of his residents. The warning has apparently gone unheeded.
I urge – as I have on countless occasions over numerous other situations – Mr Murali to personally attend to this sorry state of lampposts in BB. If any of the residents are electrocuted as a result of the negligence, no amount of saying sorry and accepting responsibility will suffice.
After all the money that the government collects and the MPs are paid, Singaporeans – and BB residents in particular – deserve better that this dangerous nonsens.#SDP #CSJforBukitBatok#BBHereIStand#CSJ#BukitBatok#SDP
