CAT ABUSED. HOT WATER POUR ON CAT! PLEASE HELP

Dear fellow Cat lovers,

this is a follow up post on the Flanders Square case which I recently posted.

There are at least a dozen cats hiding on the rooftops of these shophouses that are injured / abused and not sterilised. With the help of CWS, we managed to trap those who are injured and the unsterilized healthier ones have already been sent for TNR.

We are left with a few older kittens (7-8 months old) that are not suitable to be sterilised yet and require vets’ attention.

One of them, we call her Angie, has been badly scalded with HOT WATER by the residents around the area.

Since 24 July, Angie has been hospitalized with her very extensive scalded wounds and would need a minimum of 3 – 4 weeks hospital stay.

From 24/7 – 27/7, her bill is already $609.43.

We need to raise another $2000+ for her hospitalization.

We urgently appeal for all Cat lovers and their kind friends for donations to help us to SAVE Angie.

If you can make a contribution, please transfer to her rescuer, Constance :

No amount is ever too small as every single contribution counts for her full recovery and going back to her daily normal life .

Sincere thanks for taking your time to read this.

7 OPPOSITION PARTIES WANTS DR TAN CHENG BOCK TO LEAD THEM

SINGAPORE’S INTEREST MUST ALWAYS COME FIRST

Yesterday I had a meeting with 7 opposition parties (Singapore Democratic Party, the People’s Power Party, the Democratic Progressive Party, the Reform Party, the National Solidarity Party, the Singaporeans First Party and a new, as yet, unregistered People’s Voice Party). These parties have something in common: they are all political veterans without a single seat in parliament for the last decade. They had a frank discussion on their shortcomings and aspirations. I was invited as an Observer.

The 7 parties proposed an opposition coalition and asked me to lead them. They know they have fallen short at the last GE. Wanting to do better, they sought my thoughts. I told them that to do better, Singapore’s interest MUST ALWAYS come first – ahead of self and even their own party’s interest. To be fair, many from the 7 parties stood in past elections because they believed they acted in Singapore’s best interests. But I think some may also need to stand down and serve from the backroom if it is for the good of the country.

One commentator recently said these 7 parties are 3rd, 4th and 5th rate politicians, and that if I mix with them, my reputation will be tarnished. I’m curious what yardstick the commentator has used to measure these men. I know men like Paul Tambayah is a 1st rate human being and doctor who cares for the country. I find it hard to label him otherwise. I believe that the men and women I met yesterday, were more than willing to make way for better men and women who would stand in their place. They have guts. They have put themselves out there. That is sufficient for the moment.

Right now, the 7 parties have asked for my help. They are not the only ones who have spoken to me. I think I must help but in what capacity, I have not decided.

I am now 78 years old. I may only have a short time to mentor a team to work for the good of the nation. This is a small window of opportunity, a moment for ubah (change in Malay). I want to put my last years to good use. I want to pass all that I have acquired and learned in the political arena to the next generation.

I would regret it if I had the chance to make a difference, but did nothing

STARHUB CUSTOMER SERVICE PUT USER ON HOLD FOR 2 HOURS!

Hi Starhub,

I’ve had a really terrible experience tonight with your customer care, via 1633. I’ve spent about 2 hours on hold. There isn’t an option for a call back. I had just re-contracted and ported over my mother’s number from Singtel – decisions I am highly regretting now, given the poor reliability of your customer care support. Separately, I experienced much difficulty in re-contracting on your website, through the CIS store.

I had selected the $10/month SmartSupport option, but it did not get reflected in my final invoice. So I tried again, but the same thing happened. In summary, it was a very frustrating night.

Would you be able to get someone to give me a ring? I have wasted much time and precious minutes trying to get in touch with you tonight. Sincerely, Jonathan

NETIZEN SHARES THE STORY OF 4 CITIZENS. 3 FT 1 SG

A Tale of 4 citizens

1. Ah Kow is a Malaysian from Penang. He came to work in Singapore and became a Permanent Resident. After decades of working in Singapore, he COLLECTED his CPF SAVINGS and returned to Penang to retire comfortably in a bungalow with a Mercedes car.

2. Li Ning is a student from China sponsored by the Singapore government to study in Singapore. She was given a living allowance and free education from Secondary One to University. After graduation, the Singapore government employed her and asked her to be a citizen. She declined, continued working for 5 years and went back to China for a better-paying job (as people who can speak English are valued in China, thanks to sponsorship from Singapore) after collecting her CPF SAVINGS.

3. John is a New Zealand (Kiwi) citizen. He was employed as an English teacher and got his permanent residency after just three months. He worked for ten years and COLLECTED his CPF SAVINGS and went home to buy a bungalow and a Volvo car.

4. Krishnan is a Singapore Citizen and worked as a technician until he was retrenched as the boss employed a cheaper foreign talent. Then he became a taxi driver and found he could not renew his taxi licence unless he paid money into his CPF. When he was 55 years old, he found he could not withdraw his CPF SAVINGS. When he reached 65, he found that the CPF Board only refunded him $500 a month of his own money for his living expenses. Then they told him that he has to pay medical insurance premiums from 1st November this year or be thrown into jail.

Which government can treat its own citizens in these immoral, unethical, unlawful and deviant ways? Who allowed them to do these evil acts?

WEDDING DINNER ANG BAO CALCULATOR

A netizen has developed an amazingly accurate “Ang Pao Rate Calculator” for Singaporeans to use when going to their friends or relatives’ weddings.

Try it out and see how much you get!

“New formula for ang bao to pack for wedding:

AngBao$ = MarketRate x (1 – 1/[#ofYrsKnown]) x (1 – 1/[FreqOfContact]) + {optional}(MarketRate x [FeelGoodFactor] x [#ofYrsKnown]%) – {optional}([#ofYrsNoContact]/[#ofYrsKnown]x100%)

, where FeelGoodFactor range from 1 to 10, FreqOfContact can be # of times hang out or talked in the duration of friendship, #ofYrsNoContact is the number of years the person has not contacted you.

Example1: friend of 10yrs, frequently hang out, hotel wedding with rate of $150

AngBao$ = $150 x (1 – 0.1) x (1 – [1/100]) + {optional}($150 x 140%) – {optional}$0
= $190

Example2: friend of 10 years, never heard for 9 years, hotel with rate of $150

AngBao$ = $150 x (1 – 0.1) x (1 – [1/2]) + {optional}$0 – {optional}90%
= $8 rounded”
