KUDO TO STATION MANAGER OF MARSLING FOR GOING THE EXTRA MILE FOR CUSTOMER!

0

When a passenger approached the Passenger Service Centre at Marsiling MRT station, Station Manager Gerad Sequeira noticed that she was barefoot on one foot and was holding a slipper in her right hand.

Sensing that she required some help, he stepped out of the PSC and went up to her. She explained that one of the straps on the slipper had broken, and requested for a rubber band to try and fasten it.

As a rubber band may not work too well, SM Gerad suggested to help the passenger personally by using a stapler to attach the broken-off strap to the slipper. After a few attempts, SM Gerad realised that it would not work, and even if it did, the strap might possibly break off along the passenger’s journey to work. As the nearby shops have not opened and the passenger was in a hurry to report for work, SM Gerad offered his own slippers to the passenger so that she can head to work on time.

“To me, going the extra mile means I have to empathise with my passengers when they are caught in difficult and stressful situations, and go above and beyond the call of duty to assist our passengers in order for them to have a safe and reliable journey.” SM Gerad shared.

Thank you for showing us what it means to be a true #SMRTHero, SM Gerad! 🙂

SCDF RESPONSED TO UNIT FIRE AT 191 UBI AVE 4 AT ABOUT 2AM ON 27 FEB!

0

[Unit Fire @ 191, Ubi Ave 4]

On 27 Feb at about 2am, SCDF responded to a unit fire in a light industrial building at 191 Ubi Ave 4.

Upon SCDF’s arrival, the fire had fully engulfed two storeys of the affected unit. Firefighters deployed two water jets as an immediate offensive firefighting tactic to control the blaze from within the building. Two additional water jets were also deployed to protect the adjacent units.

Firefighters faced dark and smoke-logged conditions and had to negotiate narrow stairs leading up to the mezzanine storage platform.

The fire which involved stockpiles of party supplies, such as balloons and inflatables on the upper levels of the unit was extinguished within two hours and damping down* is currently in progress.

11 workers from the unit had self evacuated prior to SCDF arrival. Others were evacuated by Police officers. There were no reported injuries.

*Damping down is a term used by SCDF to describe the application of water to wet burnt surfaces immediately after the fire is put out. This is to prevent any potential rekindle of fire from the hot burnt surfaces.

I asked for help from station control #HillviewMRT and instead they asked me to go to the convenience store to buy something to get change. #SMRT keeps increasing fares already with bad train operations / maintenance and now furthermore with No service. #Disgust #Disappointed

NETIZEN CLAIMS THAT ELDERLY MAN WAS BEING STUBBORN BY PLACING HIS LEG ON THE OPPOSITE SEAT!

Did the old man put his leg up on the opposite seat, or just on the platform without the seats? What do you think? He disturb anyone with his behaviour? Should the netizen just try informing the elderly man instead taking his photo and posting on social media?

CLARFIFICATION REGARDING RECENT CNY LUNCH PROGRAM HELD AT Masjid Yusof Ishak Mosque !

0

Masjid Yusof Ishak Mosque Management Board would like to clarify regarding the recent Chinese New Year lunch programme held at our mosque on Saturday 24 Feb 2018.

The programme was organised by the mosque together with our grassroots partners and was aimed at strengthening cultural ties amongst our various races. It was held at the basement carpark of the mosque and was attended by residents from three welfare homes. The mosque believes strongly in the values of multiculturalism and the importance of social cohesion, as these are consistent with Islam and the ethos of Rahmatan Lil Alamin (being blessings to all).

Unfortunately, some elements of the programme, which involved traditional music and songs to bring festive cheer to the residents of the welfare homes, resulted in an impromptu dance demonstration segment. We acknowledge that this is inappropriate in a mosque setting. This was an oversight by the organising committee and we deeply apologise for the distress that it has caused to our jemaah. We will strive to ensure that such incident will not be repeated.

We thank jemaah for your feedback and look forward to your continued support for our mosques.

NETIZEN CLAIMS THAT SUPERMARKET CHARGED A DELIVERY CHARGE FOR A NON DELIVERY!

0

I have just been charged a delivery charge for a non delivery by Fairprice online. I looked through my order and invoice documents but could not find a clause that states that there will be a charge for non delivery. I am not sure if this is fair practice to the consumer. If this is the case, then the consumer can also charge Fairprice for late delivery and non delivery. I will be seeking CASE advice if this is a fair treatment on consumer rights.
