WATCH OUT FOR THIS FIREFIGHTER WHO NOT ONLY FIGHT FIRE BUT DOES FREE RUNNING!

SCDF firefighters only have a minute to leave the fire station in their respective emergency vehicles once they hear the coding for a fire call.

While this may be no extraordinary feat for some firefighters, it comes second nature to full-time National Serviceman LCP Zaki Zakwan. The firefighter from Yishun Fire Station is a parkour and freerunning enthusiast who had taken part in several international competitions within and around the region. Read the following issue of Rescue 995 to find out more about this firefighting ninja!

ANYONE WITH GOOD INTENT AND THE RIGHT MINDSE CAN BE #COMMUNITYFIRSTRESPONDER!

0

It doesn’t matter how old you are – with good intent and the right mind set, anyone can be a #CommunityFirstResponder.

On the afternoon of 17 January 2018, a road traffic accident occurred along Geylang East Avenue 1. It resulted in a 9-year old boy to be trapped underneath the car. Without hesitation, several passers-by who were within the vicinity rushed to the boy’s aid. Among them were a few secondary school students from Geylang Methodist School and Maris Stella High School. Together with adult #CommunityFirstResponders, they lifted the car and freed the boy prior to SCDF’s arrival. The boy was conveyed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

This act of civic mindedness is indeed admirable, especially since it was a coordinated effort by total strangers driven by a common passion to help someone in distress. This afternoon, the Community Lifesaver and Community First Responder awards were presented to 6 of these individuals by COL Alan Toh, Commander of 2nd SCDF Division.

Congratulations to all award winners!

YISHUN HOUSEWIFE CUTS HERSELF MORE THAN 30 TIMES WHILE SWAYING FROM 11TH STOREY

In a duration of around 2 hours, this Yishun housewife has cut herself more than 30 times on her arms and legs.

This, while dangling from the eleventh floor parapet of Block 289 Yishun Avenue 6.

The occurrence occurred yesterday at around 2.30pm.

Whenever police and SCDF officers attempted to approach her, she waved the blade she was holding at them and forcefully instructed them to back off.

An observer said that the lady, 45-year-old Cai Li, had a heated quarrel with a man who believed to be her husband.

She at that point mounted the parapet and sat there cutting herself while shouting every once in a while.

In spite of the rain, SCDF officers set up a wellbeing net and along these lines swooped down and safeguarded Mdm Cai.

Many self-caused cut blemishes on her arms and legs were seen when she was being placed in a rescue vehicle.

A kitchen cut assessed to be 20cm long was recovered from the scene by police specialists.

Investigation is currently ongoing.

FALSE ONLINE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST POLICE OFFICER!

0

A netizen, Kuroe Kun, posted online on 25 January 2018 that her female friend was allegedly molested. In her post, Kuroe Kun also made allegations against an Investigation Officer (IO) from Clementi Police Division. These are serious allegations against the IO, and we have looked into it. We wish to clarify that the allegations are unfounded and false. The IO carried out his duty professionally when he attended to the female friend. The IO did not make any insensitive remarks, contrary to what has been alleged by Kuroe Kun. Neither did the IO turn Kuroe Kun’s female friend away. Rather, the female friend informed the IO of her own accord that she needed time to consider about lodging a police report

Following Kuroe Kun’s online post, the Police have requested Kuroe Kun’s female friend to come forward to lodge a report. However, she has not been forthcoming in her accounts to the Police and has yet to make a police report, despite our continual efforts to reach out to her.

The Police take a very serious view of all complaints or allegations made against our officers. Such complaints will be thoroughly investigated and if substantiated, the Police will not hesitate to take action against any errant officer. However, we also cannot condone malicious allegations against the Police. If the allegations are found to be false and made maliciously, appropriate action in accordance with the law will be taken.

The Police urge members of the public to post information online responsibly. We also urge the public not to speculate or spread unsubstantiated information.

SLEEPY TRANSCAB DRIVER: “YOU GUYS MALAYSIAN SO CHEAPSKATE GO TAKE GRAB/UBER NOT TAXI!!!”

I would like to share this unpleasant cab experience last night, 25 Jan at 9.20pm with a Transcab driver, SHD247P.

My family boarded a Transcab at Woodlands CIQ heading to Sengkang & Hougang (driver has agreed to take us before we board the cab).

During the journey, I noticed that the driver was dozing off when the car started swerving left and right on SLE expressway and thus kept my eyes on the road too. I commented to the driver to not drive if he wants to sleep as I worry for the safety of my family in the vehicle (I have a 7-mth baby with me). The driver kept his silence after the comment and my wife noticed that he had been keeping his right hand up supporting the head while driving with only his left hand on the steering wheel.

When nearing to our first location (SK), I asked my mum to alight with us and we’ll get her another cab to get her home as this driver is in no state to get her home safely. Driver started to get rowdy and commented; “yes, alight and take another vehicle”, and went on further saying “You guys Malaysian so cheapskate should all take Grab or Uber, and not a taxi” repeatedly. (I’m not going to start and say we are all 100% Singaporean and yes I know Grab & Uber are cheaper, but we had a long day and just wanted to get home fast for our overtired baby. Why so judgmental Uncle?)

I told the driver that I’ll lodge a complaint and requested for the receipt upon alighting. The driver rebutted immediately saying that there’s no receipt and refused to give any except asking for the cab fare of $23+. I told the driver that I’ll call the police, in which the driver shouted at us to call (oh yes, of course we did!).
While waiting for the police, my mum reasoned with the driver on being dangerous for sleeping when driving and the driver retorted with “cannot sleep meh!” (wow, new lta rule? sleeping when driving is legal?). While waiting, the driver went over to his seat and retrieve a fork. He started hurling vulgarities with the fork in hand and shouted out to other taxi driver who happen to alight other passengers claiming that we are evading his fare. I kept my distance from him as it’s useless trying to communicate with an agitated, unreasonable man.

So the police arrived and the cab receipt machine is now working fine, driver stop the meter (only when the police arrived) and printed the receipt. The police officers pulled us aside to understand the whole situation, and I overheard from the officer that the driver claims that he’s using the fork to scratch his back (oh, really!). Upon the officer’s advice, I paid the trip fare and is now trying to feedback to the cab company on their atrocious driver.

Just sharing this bad experience and please keep an eye on the road though you are on a cab/Grab/Uber at all times for the safety of you and your family.
Let’s boycott Transcab and take Grab & Uber from now on! (kind recommendations from our dear driver)

To Transcab Services Pte Ltd, please look in to this matter seriously and perhaps it’s time to review your driver’s criteria and capability. Being one of the mainstream cab service provider, your drivers are not putting in effort to retain your business.
