CAT FOUND VOMITING BLOOD AT SEMBAWANG

23242231453Came across a kitty at 462 Sembawang Drive with its mouth bleeding and its legs not able to move. Called SPCA and they said someone already called them earlier on and a van was on its way to rescue this kitty.

We waited for SPCA to arrive and from the scene it looks like this kitty might have fallen from height. We’re not sure if it was on purpose or maybe this kitty was playing around climbing the window and slipped.

Hope its owner see this post so that he/she can call SPCA and claim ownership of this kitty. I have already signed the “Animal Handling” form and provided my HP number. As of now they should be contacting me of any updates with this kitty, I’ll keep this post updated with any news I receive from SPCA.

BEST FRIENDS FIGHT BECAUSE “HE HANG FLOWER FOR MY GF”

2141232131321Two of my best army mates stop talking to each other because of a girl at a disco.

It happened last weekend, we usually spend our precious book out weekends at a club or a Thai disco, My friend Ah Tan got acquainted with a Thai girl and soon there were calling each other “Teeruk” translates to darling. We had no idea if the girl was really into him or just shaking him like a money tree.

A few weeks went by and my friend Ah Tan got extra on weekends and could not book out. My other friend Daniel who is also part of our “disco going gang”. Told me that we should continue to enjoy without Ah Tan.

We went to Ah Tan’s favourite disco (favourite because his “girl” is there). She recognized us and greet us after we enter, Shortly after cheering a few drinks with the girl. Daniel decided to hang flower for the girls. The girl came by and asked wow you hang even more than my “Teeruk”.

By then, it was obvious Daniel was also interested in the same Thai girl. He also took the LINE ID of the girl and added her to his handphone.

It was book-in night, and Ah Tan notice that Daniel is chatting with the girl on LINE messenger.

Ah Tan snatch away his phone and read the contents, he later questions Daniel if he is his “brother”. Daniel kept quiet.

Ah Tan started shouting

“YOU SNATCH YOUR BROTHERS GIRL AND STILL HAVE THE CHEEK TO PRETEND TO BE FRIENDLY AT ME”

Ah Tan went up to Daniel and gave him a hard one to the face. Daniel retaliated and they started fighting. Lucky we were not in camp yet. I tried to stop them and managed to pull Ah Tan away.

Now they don’t talk anymore and none of them got the girl. The girl got her money I guess she won.

BANGKOK POLICE WARNS OF NEW DATE RAPE DRUG

3245643245Hi,

I just watched a Thailand news report from the chief of police. The video is in Thai, therefore, I will translate it.

I would like to warn the public as Singaporeans love to go to Bangkok for shopping

Currently, there is an outbreak of a new drug in the town known as “Ya Sie Sao” directly translates to medicine for “loose woman” or “woman breaker”.

The drugs are typically packed in capsule containers and are colourless tasteless and have no scent at all. It easily dissolves in drinks such as soda, beer or liquor. It can be even added to water!

The drug is commonly used for the breeding of horses and normally add into the horse’s diet to increase the chances of mating.

The effects of the drug include lost of control and activates uncontrollable sexual excitement, the victim will typically feel the immediate need to “do it”. After which the victim will blackout and not remember what happened.

The reason the Thai Police conducted a raid in the city is that the drug is so easily obtained that it is even sold in the night market and in sight!

Royal Thai Police advise not to take drinks or food from strangers as this can be used on any consumables. The victims that reported the case are normally clubbers that offered drinks from strangers or had the drug slip into the drink.

Please share this to all friends and families.

GRAB DRIVER MOTHER OF 3 STRUGGLING WITH DIFFICULT PASSENGER

312312123123I am a Grab driver, a single mother driving to support 3 school going children. I took a booking last night around 10.20 p.m. from Nanyang Polytechnic (Lobby Blk M) to Block 116, Edgefield Plains (820116) from a passenger by the name of Tan

I arrived at the Nanyang Poly gate which was closed (I took a picture), called the passenger and he says that he would walk outside, but would have to take a few minutes. He then checked the app which showed that I was at another gate, and he told me to try and find him – asking me to drive from Ang Mo Kio and turn into Nanyang Poly. I told him I was already in Ang Mo Kio Ave 8.

I asked him which street he is at but he couldn’t tell me, telling me to turn after the Institute. I told him that I was not familiar with the area and have no idea what and where the Institute was.

He then gave me two options: either find the location he is at or cancel the job. I asked him to cancel – I have already taken about 7 minutes drive to NYP and I did not want to spend more time looking for a location which I do not know where. He refused, questioning why he has to cancel. I told him politely that I will cancel shortly.

After ending the call, I received the following message from him “You are very rude. How can you do this”. I called him back, and asked him why he said I was rude. I did not raise my voice, and talked nicely to him. However, he started raising his voice to ask why I have not cancelled the job. I explained that if I do that immediately, it would affect my driver ratings/incentives – I have to wait 5 minutes. He got angry and raised his voice – scolding me that as a Grab driver I could not find the location, that I did not cancel the job.

I explained to him that I did not want to affect my driver ratings – I have to drive until late at night to make ends meet, and the ratings/incentives are important to me. He was entirely unsympathetic and said that he will definitely complain to Grab and bring down my ratings. He repeated this even after I asked him not to do that due to me being a single mother having to support a family. He then cut off the call.

I have issues with this, as:

(1) Sometimes it is not easy to find an exact pick up location; Nanyang Poly is a huge place with many blocks and it is not easy, if one is not familiar with the place, to find the exact pick up location
(2) Passengers should be more understanding, and make some effort to allow drivers either some time or walk out to a location which is easier to find.
(3) Ratings are important to us as Grab drivers. This affects our incentives and also availability of jobs. As this is our livelihood, Grab should help drivers with such situations – perhaps allowing us to cancel when we come across unreasonable passengers.

I am posting this so that the public can understand the difficulties and stress, as well as at times verbal abuse, which we have to go through as Grab drivers. While life can be hard, having to drive 12-15 hours a day, having to pay rental and cover the platform fee of 20 percent, I have no other choices to earn a livelihood.

I just wish there can be more tolerance and patience in our society – which unfortunately many Singaporeans still have to learn.

Thank you.
Mdm Yeo

HOUGANG MACDONALD SERVE BURGER WITH ANTS

23232Was very disappointed with MacDonald’s service at Hougang 1 at around 1230 yesterday, 30th August. The staff refused to take verbal orders at the counter and insisted that everyone uses the machine.

Wanted to order a mc chicken meal and 2 har cheong gai meals. However, the machine stated that the har Cheong gai burger is unavailable. Based on previous experience, even if the machine stated unavailable, you can still get them at the counter sometimes.

Therefore, we only ordered the mc chicken meal using the machine and went to the counter in hopes of ordering the har cheong gai burger. However, even before listening to us, the staff kept telling us to order at the machines. Explained to the staff and she told us that har cheong gai burger is indeed unavailable.

Let me side track again, aren’t you having the Hari Raya special for the rendang and har cheong gai burgers? Then why is it unavailable? Back to the experience, we asked if we could just order two fillet meals at the counter instead since har cheong gai is unavailable and she had to ask one of the manager for permission. Explained the story to the manager again and finally she said to just take our orders.

Ordered 2 fillet meals but the staff keyed in ala carte instead as she was probably new. Once again she asked for help and the manager came over to take our orders. It was an unnecessarily long process just to order my lunch. On top of that, to my utter dismay, I went home to discover that my French fries were half filled.

No matter how crowded the place is during lunch time, it is only right that staff remain composed at all times. They should not stop people from ordering from the counter as well because there are elderly who do not know how to use the machine. Furthermore, there are only 2 machines to deal with the crowd and it is highly inefficient.
Oh just to add on a little, MacDonald’s really gave me a surprise. There were ants on my burgers too, how thoughtful of them to raise the protein content of my food. McDonald’s

MAID SABO EMPLOYER BY GOING TO LOANSHARKS

213456754321N* came to Singapore like so many other FDWs, to support her family back home. She is educated, bright and a simple person who wants to send money every month to her children for them to have a better life.

Often on Sundays, she had noticed the queues of helpers in front of moneylending offices, and like many others she was well aware of all the risks. She knew that she should keep away from loansharks at all costs… But one day, like many others had before her, N* fell into a drastic spiral…

N* actually had a family debt from back home when she arrived here. A few months into her employment as a FDW, her relative claimed his money back, and she was unable to repay. She took a loan from a neighbour in her own country with a 10% interest and paid back her relative. But soon she became pressured by the neighbour to repay the loan and interest. So N* took three new loans in Singapore: S$600 and S$1000 from a local moneylender and S$1000 from on online moneylender. All amounts were sent back home to settle the neighbour loan.

The relative was happy, the neighbour was happy.

However N* was now left with an important debt to be settled in Singapore. On the first month, her minimum repayment was S$350 + S$350 + S$100. With a monthly salary of S$614, N* realised she was short of money.

This is when she came across a fellow FDW from her own country, they discussed about her problems, and the domestic worker, supposedly as a friend, gave N* the number of a lender. The FDW was from the same region, she seemed trustworthy enough, so N* contacted the lender. N* found out later that the alleged friend would receive a commission for passing on the contact details of the lender. She was acting as an “agent” with all the other FDWs she knew were in financial difficulties.

N* enquired about a short-term loan of S$200 but changed her mind. When she advised the lender that she was not going ahead, he became verbally aggressive and intimidating. He pretended that it was too late, that the money was already transferred. He later sent her the receipt of the transfer as proof and N* realised that the transfer had been done AFTER she had told him that she wanted to cancel the transaction. He had lied about the transfer being already made and cornered her to accept the loan, although she had clearly expressed her decision not to go ahead. N* confronted him and he only replied “You need to pay back S$200 within five days, we start counting on Wednesday. No need to pay more, we can defer”.

N* was aware that “defer” meant hidden costs. The interest was already S$100 after five days so to avoid further fees, she borrowed a S$300 from a licenced moneylender. On the following Monday, she was able to repay S$300 to the lender but he became infuriated that she had paid all due amounts. Fours days later he sent a new message claiming that she had paid late and therefore would need to pay an extra S$200 as late payment charges. N* refused, she told him that her monthly salary was just S$600 but the lender showed no compassion or guilt and just bragged that he had been lending money for five years and had never been caught by the police. This is when the threats started: he threatened to burn the employers’ house down, he sent a video of a house on fire, he also threatened to display N* picture all around the neighbourhood.

At that point N* thought the best option was to speak to her employer. They were surprised, shocked, but rather understanding to N*. They called the lender, felt intimidated when the man started shouting insults and threats, and agreed to transfer S$200 the same day. They did not call the police. N* was told that the amount would be deducted from her next salary. Although her employer acted very kindly to N*, eventually they felt that it was better for her to go home. They did not get angry with N* but they cancelled her Work Permit and she left the following day. She is now looking for a new employer, possibly in Hong Kong or Japan.

Today, N* has learnt her lesson and she wants to share her story with other domestic workers to warn them of the risks. She has huge debts, she has lost her job and she has lost the trust of a very good employer. N* is not the only one though. Many other FDWs are subject to similar issues. A friend of N* actually supplied photos of her employer’s family: as she could not repay, the loanshark subsequently threatened to kidnap the employer’s child. Everywhere in Singapore, loansharks carry on trading and a handful of helpers act as go-between to promote the illegal moneylending business. They themselves may have debts that they need to settle but they bring others down with them. And this is a risk that all FDWs need to be aware of. Just because a domestic worker is from the same country, it does not make that person necessarily trustworthy. And she is not automatically a “friend”.

There is a huge amount of shame around these issues and quite often FDWs will refuse to seek help or speak openly. A few will lose their job and be sent home, and no one really knows what has happened. Neither the workers nor the employers may agree to report the loansharks to the police. In the meantime, the number of victims seems to grow. There needs to be better awareness. FDWs need to learn more about budgeting, about financial planning. Discussing financial plans with employers can help. Victims need to speak more openly of these issues, to warn others, because anyone can fall into the spiral. And once you step into the spiral, it is near impossible to recover unharmed.
