TELCOS, FOX AND PREMIER LEAGUE TAKE TWO ANDROID TV SELLER TO COURT!

SINGAPORE — Two Android TV box dealers have been charged on Friday (Jan 12) with “wilfully encroaching” copyright, in a private arraignment case propelled by telcos Singtel and StarHub, and in addition diversion goliath Fox and the sorting out body of the English Premier League (EPL).

Singapore wholesaler Synnex Trading, which shows up at IT fairs, and its Jia Xiaofeng, were each served four charges.

One is over their ownership of 104 media boxes, which are “particularly outlined and adjusted” for making duplicates of copyrighted substance last May at its shop in Geylang.

Three different charges are for professedly helping clients make “unapproved duplicates” of projects or movies in May, August and September a year ago. They incorporate EPL football matches, and additionally programs on link channels, for example, Star Sports, Astro, TVB, and National Geographic.

Another retailer A Nahl, which used to convey Synnex’s set-top boxes, and its executive Abdul Nagib Abdul Aziz, were served two charges each to stock 12 set-top boxes at its shop in Tanjong Katong Complex, and helping a client utilize the media box to make unapproved duplicates of EPL matches and Fox programs last May.

Each charge that the litigants confront conveys a discipline of up to a half year’s correctional facility, or a fine of up to S$20,000.

Nagib revealed to District Judge Adam Nakhoda that he plans to assert trial and will draw in a legal counselor. Jia is examining his following stages with his legal counselor.

Nagib will next show up in court on Jan 26, while the cases including Jia will be heard again on Feb 2.

Synnex and A Nahl are the main set-top box retailers to be pulled to court over these charges in Singapore.

The result of the criminal procedures against them could influence the uncontrolled offers of these set-top boxes, which have turned into an element on each floor of electronic products shopping center Sim Lim Square and at IT fairs.

On the off chance that any of the cases make a beeline for trial, protected innovation legal counselors said that they would give a chance to the court to illuminate its legitimate positions on the laws concerning set-top boxes, which don’t store or decode copyrighted substance.

Recorded as the complainant in these cases is Mr Neil Kevin Gane (envisioned) who is following up for the benefit of Singtel, StarHub, Fox Networks Group and the Premier League. The organizations were spoken to by legal advisors Andy Leck and Lim Ren Jun from Baker McKenzie Wong and Leow.

Mr Gane is the general supervisor of the Coalition Against Piracy (CAP). Notwithstanding, Mr Lim told correspondents that the CAP isn’t associated with the case.

The issue of copyrighted substance being transmitted on altered media boxes developed around three to five years back after a crackdown on the deal and dissemination of decoders, which are unlawful under the Broadcasting Act as they unscrambled communicates offered by broadcast communications and link channel supplier StarHub.

These new interpretations of boxes regularly come pre-stacked with applications that let clients stream pilfered films, network shows or games programs effectively from locales, which don’t have a place with the venders.

Synnex’s containers fetched S$219 each. The organization, which has a following of near 60,000 on Facebook, additionally charges clients S$40 a year as server support expenses, and a one-time S$40 charge for on-request substance or network shows.

Individuals from CAP, which was framed last October, incorporate the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (Casbaa) that rundowns StarHub and Singtel has individuals, and in addition content suppliers, for example, The Walt Disney Company, HBO Asia, BBC Worldwide, and Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia.

A month ago, Mr Gane voiced worries in the interest of the coalition about the “obvious deals” of set-top boxes in shopping centers and IT fairs.

“What are dominatingly sold in Sim Lim Square and at Singapore’s numerous IT displays are illegal spilling gadgets pre-stacked with theft empowering applications. They are not ‘vacant’ and along these lines ‘lawful’ boxes,” he said.

The staff said the management will come down and settle but instead, they only gave a call and still demand us to pay.

PRC WOMAN FORCES 62 Y.O ELDERLY WOMAN TO PAY $2 TO USE THE TOILET

Ridiculousness upon ridiculousness! How can we, Singaporeans, get bullied by these ruthless foreigners?? Please share this to raise awareness and boycott this makan place!

Now, I have nothing against foreigners who come to Singapore to work in general but those who bully my family, they have to go through me first. According to my dad, this PRC woman (as circled in the picture with an arrow to her head because she deserves it), tried to get my old parents to pay her $2 just because my mum had to urgently use the toilet at her establishment.

My mum has a weak bowel and when she has to go, she has to go, and nobody stopped her when she entered the eating place to use the toilet in the first place.

Only after she emerged did this PRC woman try to physically restrain her and tell my parents to pay her $2 for the usage of her toilet and if not, my mother (62 years old, c’mon!), had to clean the toilet as repayment (wtf?). I know my parents, they are the sweetest couple you know. When my dad finally relented and gave her the $2, the PRC woman gave him a smirk of victory and walked away.

Singapore Tourism Board , Chinatown Singapore , seriously, is this the way you wish for our country to be portrayed to the rest of the world? And for us Singaporeans to be so openly bullied by such foreigners, it’s pure outrage! Even if not us, I’m sure they will try their tactics on other unknowing foreigners who walk in to use their facilities.

I want an answer to this and I want something done to this woman in the picture. What she did may have caused grievous hurt to my mum and it is NOT acceptable to me AT ALL! If nothing gets done, I will not hesitate to take matters into my own hands. You hurt my family, you get my wrath.

MAN HOPES MORE HELP CAN BE GIVEN TO THE OLD AND HOMELESS IN THE COLD WEATHER

A reader sent in a photo of this elderly resting outside Toa Payoh Hub.

She managed to get him a blanket and some simple tioletries.

During this ultra-cold period, if you see a homeless sleeping at the void deck or some forsaken corner please show him some love and care by getting him a blanket to keep warm – we can either provide you one FOC or refund you if you can show us the receipt subject to $10 per blanket given.

Its the little things that count…

We also hope that religious organisations like churches, mosques and temples open up their premises temporarily for these homeless elderly to rest till the weather turns better.

16 YEARS OLD BOY SUICIDE AFTER O LEVEL RESULT COME OUT @ JURONT WEST BLK 276D

According to media reports, a boy had apparently suicide after getting his O level results.

“A 16-year-old from Westwood Secondary School committed suicide after getting his O level result on Friday (Jan 12). According to media reports, the boy who was wearing his school uniform was found dead at around 3.43pm at the foot of Blk 276D Jurong West Street 25.”

Netizens comment about O levels

It is devastating to see your friends all celebrating and going to the same school and you are the only one with an utterly disappointing result. I’ve been there, I know how it felt.

That D7 for English I had was crushing for the 16 year old me, you only feel how real it is when you feel your hands trembling and your heart racing – your body refused to accept the reality. I couldn’t get into a JC was the only thing in my mind. I felt jealousy and I was salty, but I knew

I had no one to blame but myself. I didn’t want to talk to anyone about it. Friends, acquaintances and people I didn’t like asked how I did, I show them the result and I got sympathy looks. They didn’t know what to say and I had to force a smile and pretend that it didn’t matter because people are supposed to be happy at graduation right? I don’t know if I felt suicidal but the feeling was just shitty especially when you gave your all. My parents were cool, never once gave me any pressure but the feeling that the many months of effort coming to nought is just fked. Even though it may have been more than 14 years ago, but I would any day agree that it is probably still the shittest day in my life.

I forgot how I coped with that but I didn’t kill myself. I am not going to be a hypocrite and say everything is alright and that O level results doesn’t matter. It is just that suicide was an option I did not take because it would have robbed me of my future, or my present day. I would have missed out all the fun shitting on Law Minister K Shanmugam, challenging the Singapore government and my lovely present life in Sydney – and hell yeah I am thankful I did not commit suicide.

For students who did not do well, I have only one advice: If I were to write a note to my past in 2004, I would say “don’t do it, 2018 is awesome”. I am confident your future self in 2032 would say the same thing to you today.

ANOTHER PARKING C*BAI KANNA “SUMMON” DO YOU THINK HE OR SHE DESERVE IT??

0

It seem that to combat parking c*bai drivers people are resorting to leaving notes to actually scold the driver. What do you readers think of this should this be the case?  Or rather those drivers themselves should actually take the initiative to actually park properly so avoid people from taking similar action like this to them?
