CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER JAILED FOR TAKING UPSKIRT @ ORCHARD. STRESS?

A 42-year-old man, Chan Chee Kin, ex CFO of Midas Holdings, the aluminium alloy manufacturer, was sent to prison for four weeks on Monday for taking upskirt videos of women at Orchard Road on June 21, last year.

He was honoured as the best chief financial officer at the Singapore Corporate Awards in 2015. On Sept 25 this year, he pleaded guilty to two of four charges of using his mobile phone to take upskirt videos of women. Chan was at 313@Somerset mall when he saw one of the victims at around 1.25 pm that day. He turned on the video recording app on his mobile phone and stood behind the victim on the upriding escalator. He held his phone under the victim’s dress and took an upskirt video for 2½ minutes. He did it a total of three times.

At about 2.40pm, he was at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station when he saw another woman. He similarly stood behind her on an upriding escalator and took an upskirt video of her which lasted 52 seconds. He then followed the victim to Cold Storage supermarket at Plaza Singapura and continued filming her multiple times.

It was not known how he was identified, but he was eventually arrested that day. In both cases, Chan followed the victims to film them. For the second victim, it was more egregious as Chan had taken seven more videos of the victim after the first at the MRT escalator. A message had to be sent that Chan’s actions could not be condoned, the judge added.

Chan could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined on each charge of insulting modesty.

Progressive Expansion of BioScreen for Car Travellers Trial at Land Checkpoints: ICA

0

National security is of utmost importance to us and BioScreen is an integral security measure to keep our country safe and secure. Since BioScreen was progressively rolled out across all checkpoints from April 2016, it has proven to be effective in detecting people with adverse records, such as those trying to enter the country using false identities.

We have noted the concerns from netizens on the trial of BioScreen for car travellers at the land checkpoints. We will closely monitor and assess the ground situation, and calibrate the implementation according to prevailing security assessments. Our officers will also assist travellers with special needs accordingly. We seek travellers’ understanding during the trial period.

ICA UNCOVERED 2235 CARTONS OF DUTY UNPAID CIGARETTES AT SECRET COMPARTMENT OF TRUCK

Belly fuel of cigarettes.

Vigilant ICA officers have uncovered 2,235 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes at Tuas checkpoint on 26 Sep. The duty-unpaid cigarettes were found hidden in a secret compartment of a modified fuel bowser attached to an arriving Malaysia-registered prime mover.

The method of concealment is a cause of concern as it may be used by persons with ill intent to smuggle security items into Singapore.

The case has been handed over to Singapore Customs for further investigations.

EVIL NETIZEN SAYS SG SHOULD HAVE ONE SHOOTING SAME AS LAS VEGAS

A netizen on a local forum has posted a nasty message gloating over the mass shooting at a Las Vegas casino, which has left over 50 dead and hundreds injured.

According to an anonymous contributor, who did not want to be named for his own safety:

“I spotted this message by a person whose account goes back to 2008. I don’t know what is his problem. Laughing over other’s death is bad karma for you.

“I hope the police can investigate this mad man and put him under preventive custody or something. Joking about having an attack in Singapore casinos is a heartless, irresponsible thing.”

What do you think?

TRUCK BANG ME PRETEND NOTHING HAPPEN AND DRIVES OFF @ TELOK BLANGAH

 Hi,
I am looking for witness/video recording for a traffic incident that happened on Saturday, 30th September 2017, on Lower Delta Flyover, heading towards Telok Blangah.

My car was waiting behind this truck at the set of lights when I noticed it starting to slide backwards. I horned but the driver clearly did not hear me or notice his truck sliding backwards. Before I could engage in reverse gear, the truck had hit my bumper. He then drove off when the light turned green. I tried to get the driver’s attention by overtaking on the right and horning, but he was completely oblivious. Our vehicles stopped next to each other at the next set of lights but he still did not notice my horning or what had happened before. He eventually drove off.

I was driving with my 2 children at the time who were shaken. Thankfully, my vehicle sustained minor damages. I have lodged a report with the Police and also written to the company that owns the truck. I am looking for anyone who might have a video recording from their in-car camera that can assist.

Thank you.
