ROTTEN GRAPES IN COLD STORAGE SOLD AS SPECIAL OFFER!

Was at cold storage last night. Saw this special offer but was shocked to find that a lot of the grapes are rotten or in bad condition. Special offer doesn’t mean it’s ok to sell low-quality stuff to customers? By the way, this special offer price i can find similar item at similar price anyday at Fair Price. Cold Storage needs to do better than that.

NETIZEN CLAIM RESTURANT MADE DISHONEST MARKETING CLAIMS REGARDING MOONCAKES!

All SCB cardmembers, please beware of the dishonest marketing claims by Peony Jade Restaurant. They are out to cheat SCB cardmembers. They will refuse to honour their promotion with SCB, you will not be given the discount for purchasing durian mooncakes. Just order online, buy 3 boxes and you will get the discount for ALL mooncakes except Teochew Orhni.

If you have been cheated, please call up the bank to dispute the charges. It was transacted on 11 Sept and I requested a refund on 12 Sept upon discovering their dishonest advertising claims. Reasons for not honoring their discount:

1) Durian mooncake last year no discount, so by default this year also no discount. 2) The A4 size paper have no space to put: Exclude Teochew Orh Ni and Durian Mooncakes 3) Discount ended on 10 Sept 2017 This is definitely not a misunderstanding, the booth staff have clarified with their Marcom and Operations Manager.

I read books while on the MRT. Yeah, those bulky, low tech paper things. I don’t watch TV.I usually greet shop owners and drivers when I enter a cafe or bus/taxi.

I study without taking exams. I have a couple of textbooks that I read out of interest because I think online articles and one day workshops don’t cut it.I do not shortlist candidates based on grades or brand name schools when I hire. I believe in diamonds in the rough, and not reducing people to numbers. It is hard, but I try.I have no desire to buy a car.

After some back of the envelope calculations, I found I could take a taxi twice a day for 10 years and still come out ahead without worrying about parking, insurance and taxes.I don’t like rushing and squeezing with crowds for buses, trains or escalators. I am usually the last person on, or the one guy walking up the stairs slowly. My favorite coffee kakis are different from me demographically.

A couple are about 10 years younger, one is about 15 years older. Some are not local.I would support social security for the under privileged, even if it hits my salary. Yeah economics. Yeah precedents. Yeah slippery slopes. But my heart breaks when I see disabled people and old aunties selling tissue and collecting newspapers, ok?

And.. Most people don’t think I am a Singaporean.About once a week I go through something like this:Q: ‘Hi, where are you from?’ (A: ‘Singapore’) Q2: ‘No, I mean where were you born?’ (Singapore – but does it matter?). Q3: ‘But you have a blue IC right?’ (Pink – but does it matter?) Q4: ‘….passport?’ (Red – but…)‘ Q5: “Ah, but did you do your NS?’ (Yes, failed IPPT, still doing reservist – happy now?)”

NETIZEN FEELS THAT STUDENT NOWADAYS ARE SELF CENTERED AND NOT CONSIDERATE!

On my journey home from Pasir Ris on Bus Service 88 this one lady occupied 1.5 seats oblivious to someone standing in front of her eyeing the seat next to her …Her attention was glued to her phone whether intentional or not but perhaps she paid 1.5 of the bus fare. What kind of a younger generation do we bring up these days ?Source: FB post by ‎Judy Marie‎

YES SINGAPOREAN’S YOU CAN BE JAILED FOR ROAD HOGGING

“Over the last three years, an average of 1,750 summons were issued each year for road hogging.” – Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli shared this figure in Parliament (Febuary 2013).

There are traffic regulations and there is road etiquette.

Although you are not breaking any traffic regulation by moving at 90km/h on the first lane of an expressway, you are holding up others who may wish to overtake you because of emergencies.

This can be frustrating to others – especially if the distance between you and the vehicle in front is vast.
You may think the motorist behind you can overtake you if he is in a hurry, but strictly speaking, overtaking on the left is not allowed.

So, to do the right thing, stay away from the right lane if you intend to keep to 90km/h. But, of course, if traffic is heavy all round, it is fine to use the right lane – even if your speed is below 90km/h.
This applies ONLY on our expressways.

It does depend on the engineer, their team, their location, etc, but I can describe my work day.

8:45am – Arrive at the campus, head to gym for an hour of training, shower
9:55am – Grab some breakfast before it all gets cleared off, eat
10:30am – head up to my workstation, log in, start going through emails.
10:30am to 12:30pm – work, with breaks to get more coffee and water
12:30pm to 1:15pm – lunch
1:15pm to 6:00pm – work, broken up by coffee, meetings, occasionally by presentations or TGIF(T)
6:00pm – head home (eating dinner with my wife, not at work)

I’m a Xoogler. I was not the happiest Googler, so I spent very little time trying to accomplish one last thing before departing for home when I should have left two hours ago, and the work was just… something I had to do between things I enjoyed doing. Had I loved my work and team more, I would undoubtedly have spent more time doing work, and described the work in detail here… I did at my previous job, for ten years, and I am again at my current job… but, as I said, these things depend on the engineer, the team, and the location.

The upshot? Google has terrific benefits and opportunities, but no matter what, to be a great engineer, you need to enjoy your work. When I enjoy my work (like now), my day goes more like:

1. Wake up (no alarm) and start thinking about that problem I’ve been mulling over since last week…
2. Shower, make breakfast, play with possible solutions in my head…
3. Drive to work, trying not to be distracted by that elegant solution I just came up with…
4. Get to work, check for important emails, leave the rest for later (or ignore them)
5. Meet with some other engineers to work on the design of our project.
6. Take a break, read some of the less urgent email; maybe check Quora or some other internet activity.
7. Start implementing that elegant solution…
… oh, crap, lunchtime’s almost over!
8. Grab lunch to go, hurry back to my desk
9. Test my solution, fix some minor issues, and find someone to show it to.
10. Get some reviews on my code and tests.
11. Take a break for exercise. (I skip this one far too frequently. I need to work on that.)
12. Tackle another problem from my backlog, or maybe something new that I just came up with, if the backlog isn’t too urgent…
13. Force myself to leave, because I love my wife even more than my work… and I’m getting hungry, and there’s something I promised I’d make for dinner…
14. Make dinner, eat, maybe watch some television with my wife.
15. Think about what I’m working on while I’m cleaning up after dinner.
16. Bedtime. Eventually, sleep.
17. Loop.
