SPF WARNS NEW SCAM ALERT!!! CHARGE STRAIGHT TO YOUR HANDPHONE BILL

SCAM ALERT – BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT PURCHASES CHARGED TO MOBILE PHONE BILLS

The Police have received several reports where victims informed that they had incurred charges to their mobile phone bills after providing a three digit PIN number to strangers whom they befriended over Facebook.

The scammers initiated contact with victims by sending a friend request via Facebook. In some cases, the scammers even set up Facebook accounts which closely resembled that of victims’ friends! They then asked for the victims’ mobile phone number and mobile service provider. With the victims’ mobile phone number, the scammers then made online purchases of gaming credits/online gift cards. The cost of such purchases were charged to the victims’ mobile phone bills after the victims provided the One Time Password (OTP)/Verification Code to the scammers. Victims only know that they have fallen prey to the scam when they receive their mobile phone bills.

Take the following precautions to protect yourself:
a) Do not share personal information including OTP/Verification codes to anyone. Such information is useful to scammers.
b) Be wary of friend requests from strangers on social networking sites. They may not be who they claim to be.
c) Report any fraudulent charges detected on your mobile phone bill to your mobile service provider immediately.
d) If in doubt, please call the Anti-Scam Helpline at 1800-722-6688 or visit www.scamalert.sg.

PUNGGOL MRT UNCLE LIKE TO PLAY HOKKIEN VULGARITIES ON LOUDSPEAKER

For the past 2 years, an elderly man has been serenading Punggol MRT users with his own unique variety of “songs”. Using a handheld radio device, the uncle blasts hokkien vulgarities, some of which may be familiar even to non-dialect speakers.

According to one witness, she came across the uncle one day when she was going home. The man was carrying a portable handheld radio with vulgarities blaring from its speakers. Some of the vulgarities are easily recognizable as curses directed against any intended victim’s parents or foul descriptions of a woman’s genitals.

Feeling insulted by what she saw, one witnessed submitted evidence of the man’s antics to reporters. In the video, the man was seen carrying his radio and advancing towards the turnstile gantries. He pretended to take out his wallet to tap his EZ link card, but would pause there for 2 to 3 minutes with his vulgarity-spewing radio turned on at full blast. After getting everyone’s attention, he would then walk off and turn down the volume on his expletive ridden radio set.

The witness has tried in vain to get the uncle to stop his antics.

AMOUNT OF FT THAT ARE SUBLETTING HDB ILLEGALLY TO EARN MONEY

Image for reference
Hi Singapore Uncensored,

I realise in my neighbourhood that there are some FT that are renting a whole HDB unit and subletting the room to their countryman. which is illegal

There is also more and more race or country specifiedΒ room rent classified ads appearing online that only rent out rooms to a certain race. They are doing so in case there were caught subletting they would simply say that they are relatives.

If you do not believe me just do a quick search on facebook or google.

MAID WANT TO GO HOME BY PUTTING POISON IN SON WATER BOTTLE. TO ESCAPE DEBT

A reader hired a maid who endangered the life of her son by putting detergent in his water bottle. Although the employer had been patient with her and warned her many times, she has done so many things to harm her family that she now fears for her family’s lives.

The reader said that within the first week of working for her, she discovered that the maid wanted to go back home even though she has an outstanding loan here. In the subsequent days she worked for her, the maid tried all ways and means to make her employer angry. She claims that the maid seems to be trying to make her angry and see whether she will beat her, which she will then use as an excuse to demand compensation or threaten her employer to let her go back to Indonesia without paying off the loan.

Our reader thinks that some colleagues that the maid met during her training may have taught her how to scam and cheat her way out of her loans.
