Incoming students should fret not about the new QS rankings. NTU overtaking NUS is not such a big deal, just as how MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge are constantly embattled in this “war” of positions.
School rankings do not matter so much, especially when you’re already among the top 100 global universities – any further minute discrepancies do not translate into disproportionate, unfair discrepancies of acknowledgment and/or pay.
Should you really be that hard up on School Rankings, I believe Faculty and Department rankings (of which you are entering) are better indicators of whether you’ve made a better choice or not. You should also read up on the different work ethic and practices that they offer: eg NTU chemists are more employable and higher paid than NUS chemists despite NUS chemistry being more highly ranked.
NTU chemistry undergrads churn out more research than NUS ones, but NUS postgrads churn out more than theirs. NUS chemistry teaches a lot of irrelevant shit (fine, niche details that will hardly be utilized) that NTU chemistry finds obsolete (I’ve compared notes) – us NUS chemistry students are overworked with weekly 6 hour labs and lab reports, graduates underpaid and have shitty social lives.
And while SUTD has the highest median salary and SMU has the highest mean salary in Singapore, take note that Science and Arts graduates are some of the lowest paying in society, be it Singapore or Overseas – which is complete and utter bullshit. We push the frontiers of what we know – Just that our works are abstract, and aren’t easily translated into something applicable and/or marketable. Fu*k capitalism. It’s like how pharmacists earn the big bucks whereas the true science and heavy work lies in Life Sciences and Chemistry.
Until SMU and SUTD gets a proper Faculty of Science and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, their Mean and Median salaries will always be higher than NTU and NUS lol.
On the 9th June, my girlfriend and I board the SBS bus service number 168 (double deck) from ikea@tampines to woodlands and realized the bus was full of passengers and so we decided to went to the 2nd floor, and it was quite packed too. This guy who sitting beside my girlfriend who is very rude, no manners and selfish person. He keeps slamming his phone, throwing his phone and giving those attitude because he has to give up the seat with his single plastic bag stuff to the passenger.
After about 15 mins later, we managed to found side to side seat which located behind me and so we change our seat. And after that there is this other guy sit beside the same guy and again, showing attitude and etc. And even making more sound.
