On the 22nd of February 2017, The arrest of a 35-year-old man attracted more attention to the infamous Geylang. The 35-year-old tried to escape the police which eventually leads to a car chase.
The car chase ended at Geylang Lorong 22. 600 Contraband cigarettes were in the vehicle.
Oil giant ExxonMobil it is expanding its Singapore refinery to increase the production of base oil which is used to manufacture lubricants.
In the second quarter of this year, building is projected to start and is to be completed in 2019.

ExxonMobil’s expansion echoes Singapore’s position as a base in Asia to help corporations capture openings in the region. Says Mr Damian Chan, executive director of energy and chemicals at the Economic Development Board.
A robust foundational base will allow for long-term maintainable development of the energy and chemicals sector. As Singapore is dedicated to supporting the augmentation and advancement of existing refineries.

Singapore Police Force (SPF) will have their forefront officers be able to tackle heighten security threats by issuing them with more lethal and accurate firearms like the semi-automatic pistols compared to the revolvers currently being used.
Compared to the currently issued .38-calibre Taurus revolver to the forefront officers holding 10 rounds, pistol would on a standard magazine hold a larger bullet capacity of 17 rounds.
Despite revolvers and pistols being both handguns, revolvers requires to load the bullets into revolving cylinder while pistols is reload by a magazine. Thus the reloading time will be lesser for a pistols compared to a revolver making it a more efficient weapon
A new pistol model would be implemented soon with the police going through the test phase of several pistol model for numerous months.
Between those pistols being field-tested locally the central European 9mm pistol is said to be the preferred choice to be equipped for the forefront officers.
“Given the heightened threat environment, the police have started to train and will equip officers in regular frontline units to use pistols.” an SPF spokesman who was responding to questions.
He announced that the force have that pistol which are already used by certain units with the police put their equipment though frequent assessment and more facts on application will be publicised later.

A doctor in Bedok North was charged yesterday with raping a 23-year-old woman at his clinic and molesting her about a month earlier in 2015.
Wee Teong Boo pleaded not guilty,The 66 year old doctor runs as a general physician at his Wee’s Clinic & Surgery.

You must be aware that the grant are distributed into your CPF account and not as cash. As a buyer you would have fork out a combo of CPF and cash with only minimum of 5% in cash for that resale flats (if bank loan is taken).
In order to sell the HDB flat all grants must be return back into your CPF account with accumulated interest (with CPF current rate of 2.5%) over the time of your living in the flat. In additional of all the CPF fund you have used for the flat purchase with accumulated interest.
Don’t be taken aback when you have little or no cash earnings left even when you sell your flat even if your HDB flat has appreciated in value. If you need the money to for purchase of your next properly or need cash quickly by selling your flat this would be a hindrance.
Some buyers would rather approach the bank for loan than to take CPF grants as they would reimburse less interest and get higher cash return when they get their HDB flat sold. The currently rate for most banks is around 1.3-1.7% compared to CPF which is currently charging you 2.6% for the grant amounts. Which banks are actually charging you way less if you could borrow from the banks?
It always good to be aware of the in between of the terms and condition before taking up any grants or loan. Do speak to a property agent or banker that you can trust if you uncertain about anything.
