
In a video interview yesterday, Trade and Industry Minister, Chan Chun Sing was explaining that surgical masks could not be wholly produced in Singapore because there are are that have to be procured elsewhere, such as cotton. He continued by stating that “we don’t have many sheep in Singapore to produce cotton”.

Cotton is made from the natural fibers of cotton plants, which are from the genus Gossypium. And I doubt there we get our cotton from sheep.
Anyway, Mr Chan have came out and clarified that cotton actually come from plants and he admitted that “he had a good laugh” after he was told that he talked too fast in the video.
