Man, 56, Arrested After Causing Traffic Disruption At Serangoon Central

A 56-year-old man was arrested for public nuisance after allegedly disrupting traffic at a busy junction in Serangoon Central on the morning of July 1.

Videos circulating on social media captured the man standing in the middle of a road near a pedestrian crossing, causing concern among motorists and passers-by. The incident reportedly took place near Block 261 Serangoon Central Drive.

Footage shared online showed the man moving around different parts of the junction while vehicles were attempting to pass through the area. At several points, he appeared to stretch his arms outward and position himself in front of approaching traffic, prompting drivers to slow down or stop.

According to videos posted online, the man was initially seen near a pedestrian crossing while the green man signal was active. He later remained on the roadway even after the pedestrian lights had changed.

In one clip, he appeared to stand directly in the path of a white van, causing the vehicle to come to a halt. Witnesses at the scene could be seen observing the situation from nearby pavements as traffic movement was affected.

The unusual behaviour attracted attention from both pedestrians and motorists, with several people appearing uncertain about how to respond to the unfolding situation.

Found Lying On The Ground

Another video showed the man falling or throwing himself onto the road surface before remaining motionless for a brief period.

He was later seen lying face down on the ground. Images circulating online appeared to show blood on his face when he eventually got back up.

Several members of the public stepped in to assist him while emergency responders and police officers arrived at the scene. The man was later observed sitting on the ground while receiving attention from those around him.

The incident caused a temporary commotion in the area, with curious onlookers gathering nearby as authorities managed the situation.

Police And SCDF Respond

The Singapore Police Force said it received a call for assistance at about 9.40am on July 1 regarding an incident at Block 261 Serangoon Central Drive.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted shortly afterwards and dispatched assistance to the location.

The man sustained minor injuries and was conveyed conscious to Sengkang General Hospital for medical treatment.

Police subsequently arrested the 56-year-old for public nuisance. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances that led to the disturbance.
