A cheapo company recently made headlines after asking an interviewee to pay back for the coffee that was provided to him during the interview.
The interviewee had rejected the job offer and was astonished to receive an invoice for the coffee. This incident has caused a stir in the public and has raised questions about how a company should treat its interviewees.
The man who posted the screenshots on Facebook said:
Never once encounter this type of people/company before – ****************** Bring to coffee shop for interview, and when declined ask money for coffee back. Really a first.

After transferring the money the man said:
I’ve been to quite a number of interviews, but nobody has asked me to pay them back for a cup of coffee. Had I known I would have paid on the day itself, now it just seems unprofessional, please do tell your next potential hires that they’re required to compensate for the coffee if they decide not to proceed any further. Leaves a bad taste done like this. Guess I dodged a bullet here, thanks for your time.
Refund:
After the incident got viral, the company quickly refunded the amount and apologize to the man who was told to pay for the coffee.
“Didn’t think it would get so viral, that night I got into contact with her supervisor and she refunded the amount back. No replies from her though.”

Here are what netizens think:
- Should have told her to collect herself from u in cash..then pay her all 10cents coin…
- This is a notorious MLM by the way.
- they only did that cuz your post went viral . Paynow back her the 6.50
- They just want to lowball you. Weather they take back the $6.50 or not is no bog deal. If have is a bonus, if no at least tgey make you Dulan. But this type of people very petty. Should make the famous. The $6.50 should be a marketing cost.
- I would’ve transferred $20 for my coffee, his and his boss’s coffee, and tell them to keep the 50 cents change .
