An entrepreneur chef in Malaysia, Khairul Aming, recently rewarded his staff members with a shopping trip as well as a hefty bonus as a form of gratitude.
His company, which produces the Sambal Nyet product, earned more than RM14 million (or SGD $4.2 million) over a period of 1.5 years, and he closed all his factories for a day to take his workers on a shopping trip, as well a giving them a huge bonus and a poolside buffet.
He said that he wanted to reward his employees for their hard work and contribution to the company and for helping the company do well.
Khairul shared a 2-minute video on Twitter where he was seen revealing the surprise to his staff members, saying that he had closed his factory for the day.
He later brought his staff members shopping at a nearby mall, with the workers smiling cheek to cheek as they picked out the clothes that they wanted with their co-workers.
Appreciative of Khairul’s generosity, they held up their purchase to the camera and smiled widely.
Following the shopping spree, Khairul brought his workers back to the warehouse and gave out envelopes that contained cash bonuses of up to RM3,000 (or SGD $905), according to Sin Chew Daily.
Some workers could be seen tearing up as they accepted the monetary gift from the boss.
When it was time for the workers to break their fast, Khairul then brought all of them to a poolside catered buffet with several dishes on display.
Khairul also hinted in his Twitter caption that he might be taking his employees on a vacation as well.
According to a report by The Straits Times, Khairul had previously organised a 2-day staff retreat back in October 2022 for his staff members, involving booking 17 chalets at a Malaysian resort.
Semalam kita tutup kedua-dua kilang sambal untuk meraikan staff. Kita bawa semua pergi shopping baju raya, berbuka puasa kat hotel dan bagi bonus untuk raya. InshaAllah lepas raya nanti kita pergi bercuti pulak hehe pic.twitter.com/JhZ6gztTqV
