Chicken Rice Hawker Posts Video Involving Huang Yiliang’s Assistant After Beating

A fresh twist has emerged in the dispute involving former actor Huang Yiliang and neighbouring hawkers at a Circuit Road food centre, after a chicken rice stall uploaded a video online asking his assistant to “clarify” the situation surrounding recent rumours and the alleged assault case.

The incident, which has already attracted significant attention across Singapore social media platforms, took place at the hawker centre where Huang operates his seafood business, Old Fisherman. The uploaded footage reportedly showed Huang’s assistant seated near the stall while being questioned by neighbouring chicken rice sellers over accusations and rumours that had circulated in recent days.

According to reports, the disagreement centred on allegations involving Huang and his assistant. Rumours had allegedly spread suggesting the pair were romantically involved, an accusation Huang previously denied publicly. He explained earlier that he had merely offered his assistant a place to rest near the stall due to convenience.

Online reactions to the newly uploaded video were largely negative, with many netizens criticising the decision to publicly film and post the assistant, who appeared visibly uncomfortable during the exchange. Several commenters questioned whether the confrontation crossed a line, especially given the heightened tensions following the earlier physical altercation.

Chicken Rice Sellers Admit Calling Police After Assault

Speaking to Chinese-language media outlet 8World, the chicken rice sellers said they were the ones who contacted the police after Huang was allegedly assaulted.

The hawker also reportedly acknowledged that the assault was wrong. However, she attempted to justify the confrontation by questioning what a husband would do if his wife was repeatedly insulted or berated.

The situation escalated on May 10 after Huang was allegedly struck from behind by the husband of the neighbouring hawker. The former actor was reportedly hit near his right ear during the incident.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for assistance at Block 79A Circuit Road at around 6pm on May 10. One person was subsequently taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Police Force confirmed that officers established a 64-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted by a 60-year-old man when they arrived at the scene.

The dispute reportedly followed an earlier quarrel captured on video on May 7, where Huang was seen arguing with the neighbouring hawker over the rumours.

Huang Yiliang Says He Only Wanted To Show He Was Fine

Following the incident, Huang later told local media that he did not intend to dramatise the situation when cameras captured him appearing calm while being escorted to an ambulance.

He clarified that he “wasn’t smiling” and was merely trying to show people he was alright after the attack.

Huang also shared that he initially did not want to go to hospital, but eventually agreed after police and ambulance services had already been called to the scene. Doctors later examined him to ensure there was no internal bleeding or serious injury.

Despite the controversy and public attention surrounding the incident, Huang reportedly said he has no plans to relocate his seafood stall, adding that business has remained stable.

The ongoing dispute has since become one of the most discussed local hawker-related controversies online, with many Singaporeans debating whether the conflict should have been handled privately instead of escalating publicly through social media videos and confrontations.
