KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) announced in a Facebook post that they were conducting research to assess how children respond to being vaccinated against Covid-19.
The trial to roll out the Pfizer vaccine among children in Singapore has begun the recruitment of participants.
Eligibility
The children are required to be between the ages of 5 and 11 to be eligible to participate in the trials, and must not have previous infection of the coronavirus.
They must also be intending to get vaccinated.
KKH said in their Facebook post that the data that will be gathered from the trial will help to inform public health vaccination policy sp as tp [rptect children against the coronavirus.
They added that the volunteers will be reimbursed for their participation.
Interest from parents
Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung said that there was a lot of interest in the Children’s vaccines following the authorization by the United States Food and Drug Administration to use the vaccine for that particular age group.
Singapore’s Covid-19 expert committee will be making a recommendation on the extension of the Pfizer vaccine to 5-11 year-olds in the later half of November.
it is targeted at assessing the suitability of the dosage; about 1/3 of the regular dose for the kids and also to smoothen operations of rolling it out as a large scale.
