MOH announced on 10 December that vaccinated for Covid-19 will be made available soon for children between the ages of 5 to 11 after the Multi-Ministry Taskforce accepted recommendations by the expert committee to use paediatric doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine for the kids.
MOH said that they plan to roll out the vaccinations before the end of the year once the vaccines are delivered.
The vaccines were previously only available to those above 12-years-old.
They added that the recommended dosage for those between 5 to 11-years-old is 2 doses of 10 micrograms each, which is a third of the regular dose for those above 12-years-old.
Children will receive their doses a minimum of 21 days apart.
The vaccine has been prioritised for children with moderate to severe chronic medical conditions.
Booster shots
Also, persons between 18 to 29-years-old will be able to get their booster shots from 14 December onwards, provided they are eligible and completed their vaccinations a minimum of 5 months ago.
Eligible persons will be invited to make a booking via an SMS with a booking link sent to their registered mobile numbers.
