A Chinese celebrity named Mu Ziyang, aged 29, recently gained attention on the popular Chinese social media platform Weibo.
This came about when one of his fans posted pictures of what appeared to be counterfeit Calvin Klein underwear worn by the singer, causing a stir online among netizens and fans alike.
The trending hashtag “Mu Ziyang’s counterfeit CK underwear” rapidly climbed the ranks of Weibo’s most searched keywords. The accompanying images showcased the imitation undergarments in question.
The incident occurred during one of Ziyang’s recent concerts. While performing and making a heart gesture with his arms, the singer inadvertently exposed the red waistband of his underwear.
This mishap led to the revelation that the words on the underwear did not read ‘Calvin Klein’ as expected, but instead displayed the misspelt phrase ‘Cailv Kenli’, resulting in widespread mockery of the singer in China.
Netizens swiftly shared their humorous reactions to this fashion blunder, finding the entire situation amusing. Some pondered the quantity of the counterfeit underwear Ziyang possessed, speculating whether he would dispose of them after this incident.
Feeling embarrassed, Ziyang eventually addressed the issue on Weibo. He wrote, “Alright, enough with the nagging. I simply didn’t realize that I had purchased a counterfeit pair. All of this happened in just one day.”
However, his fans did not sympathize with him and continued to mock him good-naturedly. One fan advised, “Pay attention to the brand, not just the underwear!” Another chuckled, mentioning that Ziyang shouldn’t have addressed the issue because now even more people are aware of his counterfeit underwear.
Ziyang further commented on his own post, expressing his uncertainty about what to do with the remaining fake underwear. He fretted, “What should I do with them? Should I continue wearing them? I bought so many; I can’t simply discard them.”
