Dickson Yeo, who recruited US officials to provide classified information to China has been arrested upon returning to Singapore. The information which was shared with china was information relating to classified political and defence information.
“Mr Dickson Yeo has returned to Singapore on Wednesday, 30 December 2020 and was arrested by ISD under the Internal Security Act on the same day,” the ISD said.Â
The ISD will be interviewed to understand if he had engaged in activities which was against Singapore’s security.
Yeo admitted in US federal court that he did actually work for the China intelligence for monetary rewards and his intelligence work targeted other countries apart from the US.
He was sentenced to a 14 month jail term by a US court on Oct 9.
