SMRT and LTA said they had narrowed down the problem to signal interference, causing intermittent loss of signal between trains and stations.
They also been working with a team of experts from French train manufacturer Alstom.
SMRT and LTA are working round the clock to restore the service level.
They apologised for the inconvenience and seek all commuters understanding as they work hand in hand with all parties to resolve the issue.
