In addition to the 140 companies being closed down, 280 more companies were fined for not following the regulations of the safety measures after an inspection conducted by the MOM.

Most of the fines were due to employees appearing for work in the company when they could just work from home. Some companies have also failed to abide by the safety distancing regulations.

According to the government, offenders for the first time could be fined up to $1,000 and for repeating offenders will be fined up to $2,000.
