Among those arrested was a 14-year-old student, highlighting the concerning trend of youth involvement in drug abuse. The operation spanned multiple locations across Singapore, including Ang Mo Kio, Boon Keng, Bukit Merah, Jurong, and Sengkang, demonstrating CNB’s commitment to tackling drug-related issues across the island.

Key Arrests and Drug Seizures

In a separate operation on May 23, CNB officers apprehended five foreign nationals in Tuas, some of whom resisted arrest, necessitating the use of force. During this operation, officers discovered drugs being disposed of, including cannabis, and seized additional quantities of ‘Ice’ from one of the suspects.

Another significant arrest occurred on May 28, when a 46-year-old man was taken into custody at a hotel in Geylang, where officers found over 2,800 grams of heroin and other drugs after forcing entry into his room. Additionally, on May 29, a 29-year-old Singaporean man was arrested in Tampines, leading to the discovery of over 2 kilograms of cannabis and various other controlled substances at his hideout.

Assistant Commissioner Aaron Tang, Director of the Intelligence Division, emphasized the agency’s unwavering resolve to combat drug trafficking and protect the community. He stated, “The operation demonstrates CNB’s relentless and resolute stance against drugs. The drugs we seized from the operation would have destroyed countless lives and families in Singapore.” He reiterated that those who engage in drug trafficking will face severe consequences under the law, including the possibility of the mandatory death penalty for trafficking significant quantities of controlled substances.

As investigations continue into the arrested suspects, the CNB remains vigilant in its efforts to maintain a drug-free environment for all Singaporeans. The agency urges the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse or trafficking.
