CNB RAID: DRUGS WORTH OVER $726,000 WERE SEIZED

The Central Narcotics Bureau arrested three local men suspected of conducting drug activities and seized drugs with a market value of about $726,000 and cash of $40,000.

The Central Narcotics Bureau said in a statement on Friday (25th) that law enforcement officers launched a raid on a private residential unit in the upper Serangoon Road area and arrested three men aged 21, 28 and 31.

Authorities said law enforcement officers recovered about 6 grams of Ketamine from the 28-year-old suspect and 90 Erimin-5 pills from the 21-year-old suspect.

According to the statement, the authorities seized nearly nine kilograms of drugs during the operation, including about 3,795 grams of marijuana, 2,161 grams of methamphetamine, over 774 grams of Ectasy and 4,887 Erimin No. 5 pills.

In addition, they also seized more than $40,000 in cash from the unit,they also found some luxuries.

Investigations into the suspect’s drug and financial activities are still ongoing, the Narcotics Bureau said.

Penalties

Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug.

If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, 250g of methamphetamine or 30g of cocaine, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.
