This is a shoutout to a man who has played a big role in Singapore winning the Marathon at #SEAGames2017. 2 weeks before the SEA Games, he rode a bike to support me on my final big Marathon workout – 22.5 kilometers at East Coast Park at marathon effort.
He’s not my coach. He’s not paid to help me. He bikes with me for hours, handing out water and H-Two-O, taking photos and videos, offering me physio treatment at Movement Mechanics Physiotherapy Pte Ltd. He has never once asked for anything in return.
He was once an apprentice coach at Singapore Athletics. Until one day someone in power woke up and decided they didn’t want him anymore, and got him out on less than concrete grounds. When he asked why, a top SA manager’s reply was, “Because I can.” Just like that, he lost a job.
Singapore Athletics’ loss, my gain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Coach Fabian William! I couldn’t have done this without you.
