COMFORT TAXI BEATS RED LIGHT JUST BEFORE PEDESTRIAN STARTED TO CROSS

A video emerged online showing a ComfortDelGro taxi beating a red light at a pedestrian crossing along New Upper Changi Road.

The taxi ComfortDelGro taxi was seen beating the red light moments before a couple of pedestrians started crossing the road.

The pedestrians were preparing to cross the road when the taxi drove past them, and they stared at the vehicle in bewilderment.

The incident happened on 19 January at about 9.32am.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
