CONTRABAND SMUGGLERS MODIFY CAR SEATS TO STORE CIGARETTES

According to a media release by the ICA, a 29-year-old male and a 42-year-old female was referred to the Singapore Customs after cigarettes were found in a car at Woodlands Checkpoint.

The incident happened on the 23rd December 2019, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint were suspicious of the a Malaysian-registered vehicle and directed the vehicle for further checks.

Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the officers managed to find 47 cartons and 230 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes in the car seats of the vehicle.
