Couple Arrested Following Disturbance at Lavender Hotel
A couple has been taken into custody after a violent altercation at a hotel located near Lavender Street, leaving the room in a shocking state. Reports indicate that hotel staff discovered the premises covered in blood after the couple vacated the area.
The incident unfolded on the evening of Monday, 16 June, at the Harbour Ville Hotel on Hamilton Road. Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple police vehicles and an ambulance outside the hotel around 7pm, with a woman being escorted into a police car shortly thereafter.
Police Response to the Disturbance
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6.40pm to address a dispute involving a 52-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman. Upon arrival, the man exhibited aggressive behaviour, allegedly charging at the officers, while the woman failed to comply with their instructions despite repeated warnings. Consequently, both individuals were arrested— the man for using criminal force against a public servant and the woman for obstructing the police in the execution of their duties. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Hotel staff revealed that the couple were regular patrons, typically booking two-hour stays. However, this was the first instance of them being overheard arguing. Following their arrest, the room was left in disarray, with broken furniture and bloodstains on the floor and bedsheets. Notably, the woman was found to have a 4cm-long wound on the sole of her foot when she left the premises.
Financial Implications for the Couple
In addition to the damage caused, the couple now faces financial repercussions. They had not completed their payment for the room, as they had exceeded their allotted stay. Hotel staff mentioned that guests usually settle any additional charges upon check-out, which was not possible in this case due to their arrest. The couple’s failure to pay for their extended stay, coupled with the costs associated with cleaning the room, has left the hotel in a difficult position.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of public disturbances and the importance of maintaining decorum in shared spaces. As investigations continue, the hotel management is likely to review their security protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
