The Multi-Ministry Task Force previously announced on 4 May, that indoor gyms, and fitness and health studios will be closed from 8 May to 30 May.
However, SportSG issued an update on the new safe management measure yesterday (7 May), saying that certain gyms and studios will be allowed to operate, provided they only offer low-intensity physical activities.”
SportSG said:
“Indoor public and private gyms and fitness/exercise/dance studios, including those operated by commercial enterprises, country clubs, golf clubs, private apartments, condominiums and charities, are to close during the stipulated period, unless they only offer low intensity physical activities, sport and exercises where all participants and instructors are wearing masks at all times.”
Weight, strength and resistance trainings will not be allowed, as well as equipments that are provided for such trainings because they are linked with strenuous activities.
Participants are also subject to more stringent safe management measures.
