COVID RESTRICTIONS SET TO BE EASED FROM 21 APRIL ONWARDS IN HONGKONG

With effect from 21 April onwards, Covid-19 restrictions will be eased in Hong Kong, and it will see establishments such as beauty parlours, gyms and cinemas allowed to be reopened, as announced by Hong Kong earlier today (14 April).

Hong Kong is home to some of the most strictest pandemic restrictions in the world, and they were hit with their fifth wave of infections since the start of 2022 that saw more than 8,600 people dead from the coronavirus.

The Hong Kong government also said that their are increasing their max permissible group size to 4 persons at any one time, an increase from the current rules of 2 persons.

Restaurants are also allowed to remain open until 10pm, with school also expected to resume in-person classes from 21 April.

However, places such as beaches, bars and BBQ sites are still to remain closed.

Hong Kong’s aviation and tourism sector has also been hard hit, with their borders being shut down since 2020, with few flights being allowed to land and nary any passengers allowed to transit through the country.
