DATE SAYS MY LOOKS IS A 6 POINTS, “BECAUSE YOU DRIVE BMW, NOW YOUR AN 8”

Need to air this out because I’m sitting in my car right now genuinely mind-boggled.

So I (30M) went on a second date with this girl I met on hinge. Everything was going decently well—conversation was flowing, weather was nice, dinner at a mid-tier cafĆ© in Holland V went smoothly. Nothing mind-blowing, but good enough that I was thinking, okay, maybe got potential.

Then while driving her home, we somehow got onto the topic of first impressions and ratings (childish, I know, but she brought it up). She straight-up looks at me, laughs, and goes:

“Honestly ah, face-wise and style-wise, you are like a solid 6. Quite average lah. BUT because you drive a Beemer, can add 2 points. Now you become an 8.”

I literally froze. I turned to look at her at the red light like… bro, what?

She said it so casually, as if she was giving me a compliments package or doing me a favor. I just gave a fake laugh and said, “Wah, like that also can ah?” but deep down, my mood instantly tanked to sub-zero.

Like… WTF?

  1. You basically called me average to my face. Who rates their date out loud like a Grade A butcher shop carcass?
  2. You’re openly telling me you’re material as hell. If I was driving a PHV Hyundai Avante, I’m stuck at 6 forever? If I take MRT, I drop to 4 is it?
  3. It feels dirty. I worked hard to buy my own ride, but I want someone to like me, not my badge on the steering wheel. The moment the COE expires or if I downsize my car, my relationship stock value drops 25%?

I dropped her off, sent a polite “reached home safe” text, and now she’s messaging me normally like nothing happened, asking when we’re meeting next.

Am I overreacting, or is this a massive red flag waving right in my face? Should I just ghost, or tell her nicely that her comment was damn off-putting? SG dating scene is truly wild man…
