I’m crying as I’m typing this one out. And I know the title sounds bad but please read on before commenting
Im 22-year-old female, just had an argument with my mom. It started because I told her that I wanted to eat a dish (made out of chicken) while she was about to cook another dish (made of chicken too) and she started ranting about how ungrateful I was to not accept what she is doing for me, how I disregard the fact that my dad is the sole bread-winner of the house (even though she owns a little shop of her own and just yesterday took my brother shopping) and I don’t adjust.
I spoke back to her saying she is my mom and I can only tell my parents that I am hungry and want to eat so and so food. This has been going on for quite a few days now where she always shut me down by saying how she had no money or how we are struggling financially whenever I asked her to cook something nice.
And I feel the conversation we had today was the last straw for me to explode. I don’t go out to parties and all my basic needs are provided by my father (after he decides if I need them or not), nor do I go on tours like my other friends. I don’t have my own vehicle and my parents have always refused me from getting a part-time job to make some money for myself. My school fees is covered by loan and other other materials are paid by the school like some charity.
I’m sick and tired of always listening to how they are struggling financially (in reality all of their money is being used to establish a comfortable retired life for their future) and how they refuse to give me money if they feel I don’t need it.
I lashed out at her and told her I never ask them money to go out and party with friends, nor do I drink or have any other interests. If I need something then I have to ask them to provide for me since I am not permitted to work. If feeding me is such a burden to them, then I can’t do anything about it because I didn’t ask her to give birth to me.
She called me an ungrateful bitch who will never let her be in peace and started crying. My younger brother told me that I crossed the line by saying that I make my money cry.
