The Singapore Police Force found the dead body of a 24-year-old man in the waters off Keppel Bay on Sunday (27 August), just less than a week after another 50-year-old man was found dead there.
A Tragic Find
The authorities received a distress call at about 7.30am on Sunday, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to the call for assistance, arriving at Keppel Bay to find the young man’s body in the water. SCDF paramedics subsequently pronounced him dead on the scene after his body had been retrieve from the waters.
At the moment, no foul play is being suspected by the police according to their preliminary investigations.
The man’s body was initially unable to be found at first, before a rapid response fire vessel and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was deployed to search for his body along the coastline.
His body was eventually found and retrieved from the waters near Marina @ Keppel Bay, about 3.4km away from Labrador Park.
Not the first dead body found nearby
In the early morning of Tuesday, August 22, the lifeless body of a 50-year-old man was found in the waters of Keppel Bay and pronounced dead at the scene after being retrieved from the water by the authorities, according to The Straits Times.
The body was pronounced dead by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) after being retrieved from the waters, and according to the Singapore Police Force’s preliminary investigations, they are not suspecting any foul play in the death.
The call for assistance was received at 8:40 a.m. The call originated from 2 Keppel Bay Vista, the location of Marina at Keppel Bay.
As the details of this tragic event unfolded, it was revealed that the deceased was a crew member associated with a boat that was berthed at Marina at Keppel Bay, according to a spokesperson.
