The dead body of a 59-year-old man was found at the void deck of a HDB building at Block 257 Serangoon Central Drive on 16 December.
He was discovered by a cleaner 2 days after he died after the former detected a foul stench as the man appeared to be sleeping.
The Singapore Police Force is currently investigating and have preliminarily ruled out the possibility of foul play.
Shin Min Daily News reported that the body was discovered at about 8.29am on Monday.
The 27-year-old cleaner who discovered the body, told reporters that the deceased was often seen loitering at the void deck of the estate.
He started his work at about 6am in the morning when he smelled something rotting when walking past the man, whom he thought was sleeping.
Sensing something amiss, he then alerted the police.
The cleaner had reportedly seen the man lying on the ground since 14 January but didn’t want to disturb him as he appeared to be fast asleep.
He didn’t go to work on 15 January and when he saw the man again on 16 January, something felt off.
The police confirmed the incident and said that a 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
His body was found on a mattress and a pair of slippers were seen placed at the side, with also a pool of blood seen on the ground.
What appeared to be the man’s belongings (a plastic bag and a small bag) were also found at the scene.
