A decomposing body was discovered inside a truck in Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Gombak, sparking shock among nearby residents. The truck, which had been parked near a business block in Diamond Square, was flagged to police on 23 September after a strong stench filled the area.
Discovery of the body
Police revealed that the vehicle might have been left in the same spot for two days before the grim discovery. A building supervisor first raised the alarm after noticing the foul odour, which prompted officers to check the truck. Inside, they found the body of a woman in an advanced state of decomposition.
Authorities have not ruled the case as foul play. Early assessments indicated no criminal elements at the scene, and a post-mortem is being conducted at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Investigators are now working to identify the woman and trace the truck’s ownership.
Challenges in recovery
The body was reportedly difficult to remove due to its severe decomposition. Firefighters told local media that the remains had leaked bodily fluids and were almost stuck to the passenger seat. The stench was so strong that it attracted swarms of flies, with passers-by mistaking the smell for a dead animal.
Nearby stallholders said they had noticed the odour since the day before but did not suspect it was a corpse. Videos of the recovery process have since circulated online, with some viewers claiming they had seen the truck parked at the location regularly.
Truck left unused for months
According to reports, the truck belonged to a different woman who had left it unused by the roadside for months due to a shortage of parking spaces at her residence. She admitted the vehicle had been used as storage, and its broken window meant it could not be securely locked.
Investigators believe the deceased may have entered the truck days before she was discovered, with estimates suggesting the body could have been there for up to four days. The truck’s owner has clarified that she did not know the woman found inside.
The case has been classified as sudden death while investigations continue. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
