DELIVERY RIDER JAYWALKS ACROSS RED LIGHT, KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR

An accident occurred yesterday (2 May) involving a food delivery rider on his bicycle and a Toyota Prius along River Valley Road at about 2.22pm.

The delivery cyclist was seen in dashcam footage jaywalking and riding across the road during a red light and ended up being run over by the driver of a Toyota Prius.

The rider then got up pretty quickly and appeared to be okay, as the driver took a while before alighting from her car to check on the rider.

Potential penalties

Jaywalking is an offence and jaywalkers face a fine of up to S$1,000, or jailed up to three months.

Repeat offenders may be fined up to S$2,000 or jailed up to six months.
