In a recent Facebook post on 6 May, a mother from Sarawak shared alarming screenshots of a conversation that took place between an unidentified man and her seven-year-old daughter. The mother, accessing her daughter’s Facebook account at the time, expressed her shock and concern over the content of their exchanges.
The conversation revealed that the man had made inappropriate advances towards the young girl. He asked for her phone number and even attempted to arrange a meeting, claiming to have affectionate feelings for her despite never having met in person. Disturbingly, he repeatedly expressed a desire to have children with her, telling her that he wants to “make babies” with her.
Fortunately, it was the mother who discovered the messages and not the young girl. The mother highlighted the distressing state of society in her Facebook post, expressing her outrage at such behaviour.
The initial messages from the man portrayed him as a potential older brother figure to the girl, describing her as “cute” and “like a princess.” He quickly proceeded to ask for her phone number and requested voice notes from her.
In subsequent messages, the man revealed his disturbing intent to have a sexual relationship with the young girl, insisting on “making many babies” with her in the future. Shockingly, he disregarded her age when making these propositions. He suggested engaging in this activity in a secluded location, advising her to lie to her mother about her whereabouts.
The mother continued the conversation to gather evidence but blocked the man when he attempted to contact her the following day. She clarified that she had set up her daughter’s Facebook account and had always managed it. As a result, she was the one who came across the inappropriate messages, ensuring that her daughter remained unaware of the situation.
In sharing her experience with the public, the mother told World of Buzz that she aimed to raise awareness among fellow parents regarding the dangers their young children might face online. She expressed her frustration at the dilemma of whether or not to provide her child with a phone in today’s society, acknowledging the complexities of parenting in the digital age.
