DIVORCED MY WIFE “I MARRY U FOR MONEY”, NOW SHE REMARRIES LEAD MISERABLE LIFE

Married a “Singaporean” PRCsian but the “Foreign Talent” entitlement is real. 🤡💸

Lads, listen to my story and learn. Don’t be like me—simping for a poly mate just because she has a pink IC and sounds like us at the kopitiam.

We met in poly, dated all the way through my NS. The moment I ORD-ed, she was already pushing for the BTO and the ROM. I thought, “Wah, damn heng, she sees my potential.” Red flag number one: I didn’t realize she wasn’t talking about my “good husband” potential, she was talking about my “ATM” potential.

Since I only had a diploma, I chionged into sales. Within a year, I was huat-ing like crazy. 5-figure commissions every month, while my other diploma mates were still grinding for $2.8k in some back-office HR role. I thought I made it. I started treating her to Haidilao every other day, branded bags, the whole works. I literally spoiled her until she forgot what a $5.50 Cai Fan looked like.

Then, the “China Logic” started creeping out.

She starts telling me her father has this plot of land back in the motherland. The government is planning to reclaim it soon. Her “genius” plan? I need to bankroll a construction project on that empty land—build some random structure—so that when the CCP takes it back, the compensation payout will be “massive.”

I told her: “Are you siao? Why would I throw my hard-earned SGD into a hole in China for a ‘maybe’ payout?”

The moment I closed the tap, the “loving wife” vanished. The relationship turned sour faster than milk left out at a Maxwell hawker stall. Then, bad luck struck. I had a massive blow-up with my boss (sales stress is no joke) and I lost my job.

I didn’t give up. I started my own small business. Three months in, I was netting $5k a month. For a new business, that’s actually quite steady, right? WRONG. To her, $5k is “poverty wages.” Because my income dropped by half, I told her we need to humble down. No more Crystal Jade; we eat at the food court. No more GrabPremium; we take the MRT.

She lost it. During a family dinner—IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS—we had a shouting match. I told her we need to be prudent. She stood up, pointed at me, and screamed: “I ONLY MARRIED YOU FOR THE MONEY! If I knew you’d end up like this, I wouldn’t have bothered!”

The silence from my parents was deafening. My mother nearly dropped her soup spoon.

So yeah, lesson learned. Doesn’t matter if they got their citizenship in Primary school. Some mentalities are hard-coded. lawyer and annulment settled.

Years later, I saw her at Bugis Junction arguing with her husband and she had a baby, guess what were they arguing about? MONEY, Guess her mentality will continue to give her a miserable life.

If any of you see me at the Clementi 448 market eating alone, come say hi. I’ll be the one enjoying my $4 laksa in peace. ✌️
