A dog owner in Singapore was left shocked and outraged when she discovered that her pup had been muzzled with a cable tie at a pet grooming salon. Lim Zhiyi took to Facebook to share her disturbing experience at First Class Pets at Jalan Jurong Kechil, warning other pet owners in the area to be cautious when choosing a groomer for their pets.
According to Lim, she arrived early to pick up her dog and was horrified to see that it had been muzzled with what appeared to be a cable tie. When she questioned the owner, Kim, she was told that the dog had a high tendency to bite and had to be muzzled. However, Lim was not informed of this practice beforehand and was shocked by the use of a cable tie, which she believed was inhumane and uncomfortable for her dog.
Lim shared a photo of her dog’s snout, which showed a deep mark, and expressed her concerns about the welfare of her pet. She also questioned why the groomers seemed to be prioritizing their own interests over the needs of the pets, and why they did not use a proper muzzling tool.
The owner of First Class Pets, Kimberlyn Khoo, apologized on Facebook and Instagram, acknowledging that the incident was “completely our fault for making very bad decisions.” Khoo explained that she was not the groomer who used the cable tie and only found out about it after Lim questioned her. She also stated that the groomer had been reprimanded and that the salon would no longer use such methods.
Khoo took full responsibility for the incident and announced that she would be shutting down First Class Pets to “work on ourselves to be better and do better.” The salon will also be contacting existing customers who have packages with them.
