This was what a domestic worker had for dinner: left overs from the employer’s table. Approximately one quarter of those who approach HOME for assistance complain of inadequate or poor quality food.
However, most workers who leave their employer’s homes to file such complaints at Singapore Ministry of Manpower usually end up being sent back to their countries and losing their jobs.
Even though MOM provides guidelines to employers about how much food to provide, they are not enshrined in law and therefore cannot be enforced.
If you are a domestic worker and need help with food related problems, do get in touch with the Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (HOME) for advice.
