The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has finally donned a mask in public.
Trump, was at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, outside Washington, where he was due to meet frontline health-care workers as well as wounded soldiers.
This visit marked his first public appearance with a mask on since the coronavirus started causing chaos across the United States, and the world.
Trump has notably refused to wear a mask in public, saying that it was a “personal choice”, though he did mention that he would if he was in a crowd and couldn’t practise safe-distancing.
Trump stated: “I think when you are in a hospital, especially in that particular setting when you are talking to a lot of soldiers, people that in some cases just got off the operating table, I think it’s a great thing to wear a mask.”
According to reports from Reuters, as of July 10 – the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the US hit 3 million.
