Dr Tan Cheng Bock took to his Facebook page to thank the people for their warm support during his period of campaigning.
Here was what he stated in his Facebook.
“My dearest Singaporeans,
I want to thank you for your warm support through this period of campaigning. Though it was not the result we had hoped for, we made significant inroads into the constituencies where we stood, capturing about 10% of Singapore’s total voting share. The team worked very hard and I want to thank the members of PSP, the volunteers, supporters, polling and counting agents (including those who volunteered but were not deployed) for the sacrifices they made to contribute to our team. I know your hearts are for Singapore and I hope PSP can continue to count on your support as we press in to finish the work we have started. Some have already expressed a desire to do so and I am so encouraged by that.
For a young party of just over one year, I think we did well. There was hardly enough time to walk the ground before the polls, but now there is time. There is time to build relationship, to develop deep roots into the community and time to work toward our vision of a real Singapore Together. Here, I really want to ask the young ones to join us. The future of Singapore is in your hands, so make a difference and come and join us, walk with us, work with us. You can do it. We can do it together.
Finally, I congratulate the PAP for their win in the West Coast GRC. It was a tough battle and both sides worked very hard. We will meet again.
Last note: I also want to thank the supporters who made these wonderful cakes for us which we received over the last 2 days.”
