A 27-year-old driver was arrested after a three-car accident along Bedok Reservoir Road on Thursday night (6 August), with police also seizing two vaporisers at the scene.
The accident happened at around 10.20pm along Bedok Reservoir Road towards Eunos Link, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).
Images circulating online showed several badly damaged vehicles stopped near a bus stop, with debris scattered across the road and emergency personnel attending to those involved.
Two Drivers Taken To Hospital
One of the vehicles appeared to have mounted the kerb before hitting a traffic control box. Another car, which was stopped in the left lane, had visible damage to its bonnet and left side, while a third vehicle was positioned in the bus bay.
Police officers were seen cordoning off part of the area as they carried out investigations. Photos shared online also showed officers speaking to a man wearing a basketball jersey near the accident site.
Two male drivers, aged 27 and 50, were injured in the collision. Both were conscious when they were taken to Changi General Hospital by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulances.
Two other people were assessed at the scene after sustaining minor injuries. However, they declined further medical treatment at the hospital.
27-Year-Old Driver Arrested Over Alleged Drug-Impaired Driving
Police subsequently arrested the 27-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Two vaporisers were also seized during the incident. The offence relating to the vaporisers has since been referred to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for further investigation.
The latest case comes amid continued enforcement against motorists suspected of driving while impaired, as such behaviour can pose a serious danger to other road users.
Police investigations into the Bedok Reservoir accident are ongoing. Further details, including whether the driver will face charges, are expected to be released after investigations are completed.
